5. Initial Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The GT620G operates on two 9V alkaline batteries (not supplied). Insert them into the battery compartment located on the control box, ensuring correct polarity.

5.2 Adjusting Length

Adjust the telescopic stem to a comfortable length that allows the search coil to be parallel to the ground when you are standing upright.

6. Operating Modes

The GT620G features two primary operating modes:

  • ALL METAL Mode: This mode allows you to search for all types of metal without discrimination. It features auto ground balance and high sensitivity, making it ideal for general metal detection.
  • DISC (Discrimination) Mode: This mode allows you to discriminate between different types of metals. By adjusting the 'TARGET X REJECT' button, you can exclude unwanted metals (like iron) from detection.

7. Operation

7.1 Power On and Sensitivity Adjustment

To begin, open the green power button. Adjust the sensitivity using the 'DEPTH SELECT' button to a level of 2-3. This sets the detector to 'All Metal' mode initially.

7.2 Metal Discrimination

To discriminate and exclude specific metals:

  • Press the 'TARGET X REJECT' button once to easily discriminate and exclude iron.
  • Press the 'TARGET X REJECT' button a second time to eliminate copper coins from detection.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, wipe down the search coil and stem with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
  • Ensure the search coil is dry before storing.
  • The control box should be kept dry and clean. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe it.

8.2 Storage

  • Always remove batteries if the detector will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Store the metal detector in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8.3 Waterproof Search Coil

The search coil is waterproof and can be submerged in shallow water. However, the control housing is not waterproof and must be kept dry at all times.
