6. Operating Instructions

Power On/Off:

Press and hold the 'POWER' button for approximately two seconds to turn the meter on or off.

Automatic and Manual Ranging:

  • The meter defaults to automatic ranging (indicated by 'AUTO' on the display). In this mode, the meter automatically selects the appropriate measurement range (20mA, 200mA, 2A, 20A, 60A).
  • To switch to manual ranging, press the 'RANGE' button. Each press will cycle through the available ranges in a descending sequence.

Data Retention (HOLD):

Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. An 'H' symbol will appear on the LCD to indicate that data hold is active. Press the 'HOLD' button again to release the reading.

AC Leakage Current Measurement:

The SNAKOL SK-2060 is specifically designed for measuring AC leakage current. Follow these steps for accurate measurements:

Diagrams illustrating AC leakage current measurement methods for ground lines, single-phase, and three-phase systems.
  1. Detecting Leakage Current on the Ground Line (Figure 1):
Open the trigger of the clamp meter. Clamp the meter around the ground line only. The reading displayed on the LCD will be the value of the leakage current on that ground line.
  2. Detecting Leakage Current of Unbalanced Work Power Line:
    • Single-Phase Alternating Current (Figure 2): Open the trigger. Clamp the meter around both the power line and the neutral line. The reading will indicate the leakage current.
    • Three-Phase Three-Wire System (Figure 3): Open the trigger. Clamp the meter around all three phase wires. The reading will indicate the leakage current.

Note: For factories or companies using a three-phase five-wire system (which includes three phase wires, a working zero line, and a protective zero line/grounding), the grounding line should be detected individually. It cannot be clamped together with the four working power lines at the same time in the clamp.

Low Voltage Prompting:

When the battery voltage is low, a battery symbol will be displayed on the LCD, prompting you to replace the batteries.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the meter. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and store the meter in a cool, dry place.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low voltage indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SNAKOL SK-2060, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Meter does not power on: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the clamp jaws are fully closed around the conductor. Verify that you are using the correct measurement technique for the circuit type.
  • Display shows 'H' constantly: The data hold function might be active. Press the 'HOLD' button to deactivate it.
  • Meter shuts down unexpectedly: This may indicate low battery power or that the automatic shutdown feature has activated after 10 minutes of inactivity. Replace batteries or power on again.

If the problem persists, please contact customer support.

9. User Tips

  • For the most accurate leakage current measurements, ensure that only the specific conductor(s) being tested are within the clamp jaws.
  • Utilize the data hold function when taking measurements in hard-to-reach areas to easily record the reading.
  • The compact size and lanyard attachment make this meter convenient for fieldwork; always use the lanyard to prevent accidental drops.
