3. Setup
Battery Installation
The device requires 4 LR44 batteries (not included). To install:
- Locate the push-lid battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Slide open the lid.
- Insert 4 LR44 batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment lid securely.
Note: Batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.
4. Operating Instructions
Follow these simple steps to measure your soil's fertility, pH, and moisture:
- Power On: Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the meter.
- Insert Probe: Gently insert the metal probe into the soil to a depth of 8-12 cm (approximately 3-5 inches). Ensure the probe is fully in contact with the soil.
- Read Measurements: After approximately 3 seconds, the LCD screen will simultaneously display the pH, moisture, and fertility values.
- Value Lock: The displayed values will automatically lock after 5 seconds. To take another measurement, press the ON/OFF key again to release the lock.
- Clean Probe: After each measurement, promptly clean the probe to ensure accuracy for future use.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Always clean the metal probe thoroughly with a soft cloth after each use to remove any soil residue. This prevents contamination and ensures accurate readings.
- Storage: Store the soil detector in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the display becomes dim or readings are inconsistent. Ensure to use 4 new LR44 batteries.
Important Warnings:
- Do NOT measure water or any other liquid directly. This device is designed for soil testing only.
- Do NOT force the probe into hard soil. If the soil is too compact, pre-moisten it or loosen it gently before insertion to avoid damaging the probe.
- Do NOT leave the probe stuck in the soil for long periods of time. Remove it after measurement to prevent corrosion and damage.

- No Display/Dim Display: Check if batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace with new LR44 batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the probe is clean and free of debris.
- Verify the probe is inserted to the recommended depth (8-12cm).
- Make sure the soil is not too dry or too hard, as this can affect conductivity and readings.
- Values Locked on Screen: If values remain locked, press the ON/OFF button to release the lock and initiate a new measurement.
