6. Maintenance

6.1 General Care

  • Keep the oscilloscope clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the exterior.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the casing or screen.

6.2 Heat Dissipation

The oscilloscope is designed with high-efficiency heat dissipation through cooling holes located on the body top, side, and rear of the fuselage. Ensure these vents are not obstructed during operation to prevent overheating.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Hantek oscilloscope, please refer to the following general troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check the power cable connection and ensure the power outlet is functional. Verify the power button is pressed.
  • No Signal Display: Ensure probes are correctly connected to both the oscilloscope and the circuit under test. Check probe settings (e.g., 1X/10X attenuation) and channel input coupling (AC/DC/GND).
  • Unstable Waveform: Adjust trigger settings (level, mode, source) to stabilize the waveform. Check for proper grounding.
  • Incorrect Measurements: Verify probe compensation is correctly performed. Ensure the vertical and horizontal scales are set appropriately for the signal being measured.
  • Software/Connectivity Issues: If using with a computer, ensure the correct drivers are installed and the USB connection is secure. Try restarting both the oscilloscope and the computer.

For more detailed troubleshooting or persistent issues, please contact Hantek customer support.

8. User Tips

  • Probe Compensation: Always perform probe compensation when using new probes or if you suspect measurement inaccuracies. This ensures the probe's frequency response is flat.
  • Grounding: Proper grounding is crucial for accurate and safe measurements. Always connect the probe's ground clip to the circuit's ground reference.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the official Hantek website periodically for firmware updates to ensure your device has the latest features and bug fixes.
  • Explore Trigger Modes: Experiment with different trigger modes (Edge, Pulse, Video, Slope, etc.) to effectively capture and analyze various types of signals, especially complex or intermittent ones.
  • Utilize Advanced Functions: Don't hesitate to explore the built-in logic analyzer (MPO models), waveform generator, serial decoding, and FFT spectrum analysis features to maximize the utility of your oscilloscope for diverse applications.
