4. Setup

4.1 Unboxing and Initial Assembly

1. Carefully remove the electric bike and all accessories from the packaging.
2. Unfold the bike according to the folding mechanism (refer to Figure 2.2 for visual guidance). Ensure all locking mechanisms are securely engaged.
3. Attach any loose components such as pedals, handlebars, or seat post if they are not pre-assembled. Ensure they are tightened to the recommended torque specifications (if provided in a separate detailed assembly guide).
4. Adjust the seat height and handlebar position for a comfortable riding posture.

4.2 Battery Charging

1. Locate the charging port on the battery. The battery is removable and secured with a key for convenience and security.
2. Connect the charger to the charging port, then plug the charger into a standard power outlet.
3. Allow the battery to charge for 5-6 hours before its first use. The charger typically has an indicator light that changes color when charging is complete.
4. Always use the original charger provided with the bike.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

• To power on the bike, press and hold the power button on the control panel (location may vary, typically on the handlebars).
• To power off, press and hold the power button again.

5.2 Riding Modes

The HITWAY BK35 offers two primary riding modes:

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Care

• Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Avoid completely draining the battery before recharging.
• Always use the provided charger.

6.2 General Checks

• Before Each Ride: Check tire pressure, brake functionality, and ensure all quick releases and folding mechanisms are securely locked.
• Regularly: Inspect the frame for any damage, check for loose bolts or connections, and ensure the chain is clean and lubricated.

6.3 Cleaning

The bike has an IP54 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected from dust and splashing water. You can clean the bike with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.

7. Troubleshooting

• Bike not powering on: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Check all cable connections.
• Motor not providing assistance: Verify the battery level. Ensure you are in pedal assist mode and actively pedaling. Check for any error codes on the display.
• Reduced range: This can be due to factors like terrain, rider weight, tire pressure, and ambient temperature. Ensure the battery is fully charged and tires are properly inflated.
• Brakes feel weak: Inspect the brake pads for wear and the disc rotors for damage. If unsure, consult a professional bike mechanic.

8. User Tips

• Removable Battery: The BK35 features a removable battery secured by a key. This allows for convenient charging off the bike and provides an option for carrying a spare battery for extended rides.
• Folding for Transport: Practice folding and unfolding the bike a few times to become familiar with the mechanism, making it quicker to store in a car trunk or carry on public transport.
