4. Safety Information & Usage Limitations

Important Notes

  • This device is for indoor use only.
  • Do not connect loads that exceed the maximum rated capacity (e.g., 16A, 240V AC).
  • Avoid using with high-inrush current appliances like large motors.
  • Requires a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. 5GHz networks are not supported.
  • The neutral wire version requires a neutral wire in your wall box for installation. Confirm your wiring setup before purchase/installation.
  • Ensure the installation environment is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct heat sources.

5. Installation & Wiring

Before proceeding with installation, ensure the household power is turned OFF at the circuit breaker to prevent electric shock.

Mini Body Installation

The compact design of the MINI Smart Switch allows it to be installed directly into a standard wall switch box, behind your existing switch.

Wiring Diagram for Single-Way Control

Connect the smart switch according to the diagram below. Ensure all connections are secure. This device requires a neutral wire for operation.

The MINI Smart Switch supports two-way control, allowing you to control a single light from two different physical switch locations. Connect the smart switch as shown in the diagram.

Switch Compatibility

The smart switch is compatible with various traditional mechanical rocker switches. It is not compatible with electronic rocker switches.

6. Setup & Pairing

Before using smart functions, download the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app from your smartphone's app store.

Pairing Methods

There are three ways to put the device into pairing mode:

  1. Long Press: Press and hold the manual button on the smart switch for 5 seconds.
  2. Switch Toggle: Turn the connected rocker switch ON/OFF six times.
  3. Power Cycle: Turn the power to the smart switch ON/OFF six times.

The device will make a "DI DI DI..." sound and the LED light will flash rapidly when it is in pairing status.

Adding Device to Smart Life App

Follow these steps to add your smart switch to the 'Smart Life' app:

  1. Open the Smart Life app and log in or register.
  2. Tap 'Add Device' or the '+' icon.
  3. Select 'Switch (Wi-Fi)' from the device list.
  4. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  5. Confirm the indicator is blinking rapidly and proceed with adding the device.
  6. Once added, you can rename the device (e.g., "Bedroom switch").

7. Basic Operation

Manual Control

You can control the connected light or appliance normally using the physical button on the switch, even after installing the smart module.

App Control

Use the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' app on your smartphone or tablet to turn the device on/off remotely. The app also allows you to set timers, schedules, and countdowns for automated control.

Sharing Function

The main account can share control permissions with family members, allowing multiple smartphones to control the same smart switch. This enables everyone in the household to enjoy the benefits of smart living.

8. Voice Control

The MINI WiFi Smart Switch is compatible with popular voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. To enable voice control, you need to link the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' skill/action within your respective voice assistant app.

9. Product Care & Maintenance

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the switch surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners, chemical solvents, or wet cloths.
  • Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the switch or its panel.
  • Do not disassemble the product. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repairs must be performed by qualified professionals.

10. Troubleshooting

  • Device not responding/flickering: Ensure the device is properly wired and receiving stable power. Check your Wi-Fi connection to ensure it's a 2.4GHz network and stable. If the device is flickering or turning on/off unexpectedly, it might be experiencing power fluctuations or interference.
  • Unable to pair: Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Ensure the device is in pairing mode (LED flashing rapidly). Try moving closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Voice control not working: Confirm the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' skill/action is enabled and linked correctly in your Alexa or Google Home app. Ensure the device name in the Smart Life app matches the name you are using for voice commands.
  • Appliance not turning on/off: Check the wiring connections to the appliance and the smart switch. Ensure the appliance itself is functional.

11. User Tips

  • High-Power Appliances: While the switch supports up to 16A, avoid connecting appliances with high inrush current, such as large motors (e.g., 1 horsepower water pumps), as this can damage the switch or cause unstable operation.
  • Wi-Fi Stability: For optimal performance, ensure your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network is strong and stable in the area where the smart switch is installed.
  • Neutral Wire: Remember that this version of the smart switch requires a neutral wire for installation. Double-check your wall box for compatibility before purchasing or installing.
