3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button to turn the unit on or off. A short press typically accesses the system menu or backlight settings.

3.2 Sonar Modes

The HOOK Reveal offers various sonar views to help you find fish and structure.

3.2.1 CHIRP and Broadband Sonar

This traditional sonar view provides excellent target separation and clarity, showing fish arches and bottom contours. The autotuning feature optimizes settings for you.

3.2.2 DownScan Imaging

DownScan provides picture-like views of structure and fish directly below your boat, making it easier to identify what you're seeing.

The FishReveal overlay combines CHIRP sonar's target identification with DownScan Imaging's high-resolution views of bottom detail and structure, simplifying fish detection.

3.2.3 SideScan Imaging (TripleShot models only)

SideScan offers wide, detailed views of the seabed to the left and right of your boat, perfect for scouting large areas and finding hidden structure.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the display and unit housing with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the screen and casing.
  • Clean the transducer face regularly to ensure optimal sonar performance. Remove any marine growth or debris.

4.2 Storage

  • When not in use, store the unit in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, disconnect the power cable.

4.3 Software Updates

Periodically check the Lowrance website for software updates. Updates can provide new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Follow the instructions provided with the update files for proper installation using a MicroSD card.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HOOK Reveal unit, try the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check all power connections, the inline fuse, and the boat's battery. Ensure the power cable is securely plugged into the unit.
  • No Sonar Readings: Verify the transducer is properly connected to the unit and submerged in water. Check for obstructions on the transducer face. Ensure the correct transducer type is selected in the unit's settings.
  • Poor Sonar Image: Adjust sensitivity and gain settings. Ensure the transducer is mounted correctly and free from air bubbles or turbulence. Check for electrical interference from other devices.
  • GPS Not Acquiring Signal: Ensure the unit has a clear view of the sky. Allow several minutes for the GPS receiver to acquire satellites.
  • Unit Freezes/Unresponsive: Try performing a soft reset (refer to the full manual for specific button combinations). If the issue persists, a hard reset might be necessary (this will erase user data, so back up important information if possible).
