4. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Main Body Placement: Place the main body (A54.2201-C63F) on a stable, level surface, away from direct sunlight, vibrations, and excessive dust.
  3. Head Installation: Gently insert the trinocular head (A53.2201-CT63) into the top port of the main body. Secure it with the set screw if present.
  4. Eyepiece Insertion: Insert the Ultra Wide Field 10x/23mm eyepieces (A51.2201-1023) into the ocular tubes of the trinocular head.
  5. Objective Installation: Rotate the nosepiece to allow easy access. Screw the desired objective lenses (e.g., PLCN Infinity Plan Achromatic Objectives) into the nosepiece in ascending order of magnification.
  6. Condenser Adjustment: Ensure the Abbe Condenser (A56.2201-11) is correctly seated and centered beneath the stage.
  7. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the microscope and a suitable power outlet.
  8. Camera Setup (Optional): If using a camera, attach the appropriate C-mount adapter (e.g., A55.2201-05xC) to the trinocular port, then attach the camera (e.g., A59.2271-3M) to the C-mount. Refer to the camera's specific manual for software installation.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Turn on the main power switch. The built-in SUPERMLED 10W LED transmit illumination will activate.
  2. Adjust Illumination: Use the illumination control knob to set the desired brightness. The Light Intensity Management (LIM) System and Brightness Memory Function will retain your settings.
  3. Place Specimen: Place your specimen slide on the mechanical stage, securing it with the stage clips. Use the Right Hand XY Moving Knob to position the specimen over the light path.
  4. Select Objective: Rotate the 5-hole coded inwards nosepiece to select the lowest power objective (e.g., 4X).
  5. Focusing:
    • Use the Coaxial Coarse Focusing knob to bring the specimen into approximate focus. The focusing range is 25mm with a coarse stroke of 17.6mm.
    • Use the Fine Focusing knob for precise focusing. The fine stroke is 0.1m with a fine scale of 1μm.
    • Adjust the diopter on the eyepieces for individual eye focus.
  6. Condenser Adjustment: Adjust the Abbe Condenser's aperture diaphragm and height for optimal contrast and resolution.
  7. Higher Magnification: Once focused at low power, switch to higher power objectives. Minor fine focus adjustments may be needed. For the 100X objective, apply a drop of immersion oil (A50.2201-1) directly onto the specimen slide before lowering the objective into the oil.
  8. Metallurgical/Fluorescent Operation:
    • Metallurgical (A13.2263): Activate the Epi Metallurgical LED Illuminator. Ensure the polarizing slot is correctly configured if using polarization.
    • Fluorescent (A16.2263): Activate the appropriate Epi Fluorescent LED Illuminator (UV, B, G, or combinations) and select the corresponding filter cube.
  9. Power Off: After use, turn off the illumination and main power switch.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Optics: Use only specialized lens cleaning paper and solution for objectives and eyepieces. Gently wipe in a circular motion. Never use abrasive materials.
  • Immersion Oil: After using the 100X oil immersion objective, immediately clean off all immersion oil from the objective lens and the specimen slide using lens cleaning solution. Failure to do so can damage the lens.
  • General Cleaning: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying. Avoid using organic solvents.
  • Dust Protection: Always cover the microscope with a dust cover when not in use.
  • Storage: Store the microscope in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and corrosive chemicals.
  • Mechanical Adjustments: Use the provided Allen keys (A50.2204-3) for any necessary minor adjustments to mechanical parts, as instructed by a qualified technician or specific guides.
  • LED Illumination: The SUPERMLED 10W LED light source has a long lifespan (60,000 hours) and generally requires no maintenance.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No illuminationPower cord disconnected, power switch off, brightness knob set to minimum.Check power connection, turn on switch, increase brightness.
Image blurry or out of focusIncorrect focusing, objective not fully engaged, dirty objective/eyepiece, immersion oil on dry objective.Use coarse and fine focus, rotate nosepiece to click objective into place, clean optics, remove oil from dry objectives.
Dark field or uneven illuminationCondenser not centered, aperture diaphragm closed too much, light path obstructed.Center condenser, open aperture, check for obstructions on stage or light source.
Dust or spots in field of viewDust on eyepiece, objective, or specimen.Clean eyepieces and objectives. Check specimen for dust.
Stage movement stiffAccumulated dirt, tension adjustment too tight.Clean stage mechanism. Adjust damping adjustment ring if present.
