3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery cover securely.
3.2 Device Orientation and Electronic Level
The S6 features an electronic level and double water balance for accurate measurements. Ensure the device is held steady and level for optimal performance. The electronic level is displayed on the screen.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Panel Introduction

- MEAS Button: Initiates measurement.
- Function Button: Cycles through measurement modes (Area, Volume, Pythagorean, etc.).
- +/- Buttons: Add or subtract measurements.
- UNIT Button: Switches measurement units (m/ft/in/ft+in) and measurement reference (pre/post).
- CLEAR/Power Button: Turns the device on/off, clears current measurement, or returns to previous screen.
4.2 Basic Measurements
- Power On: Press the CLEAR/Power button.
- Single Measurement: Press the MEAS button once to emit the laser, then press again to take a single distance measurement. The result will be displayed on the screen.
- Continuous Measurement (Max/Min): Long press the MEAS button. The device will continuously measure, displaying the maximum and minimum values. Press MEAS again to stop.
- Unit and Reference Switching: Press the UNIT button to cycle through measurement units (m, ft, in, ft+in) or to change the measurement reference point (front or rear of the device).

4.3 Advanced Measurement Modes
Press the Function button to select different measurement modes.

- Area Measurement: Select the area mode. Take two consecutive measurements (length and width). The device will automatically calculate and display the area.
- Volume Measurement: Select the volume mode. Take three consecutive measurements (length, width, height). The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.
- Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect):
- One Pythagorean: Select this mode. Measure the hypotenuse (A) and one leg (B). The device calculates the other leg (H).
- Secondary Pythagorean: Select this mode. Measure the hypotenuse (A) and two segments (B, C) to calculate total height (H1+H2).

Figure 11: One Pythagorean Measurement
Figure 12: Secondary Pythagorean Measurement - Real-time Angle Measurement: The device can measure angles in real-time. This is useful for height measurements.
- Automatic Vertical Measurement: Quickly find the vertical point corresponding to a suspended object.
- Auto Horizontal Distance Measurement: Measure horizontal distance and height indirectly when obstacles are present.

4.4 Additional Features
- Mute Mode: You can turn the operation sound on and off at any time, suitable for quiet environments like classrooms or libraries.
- Data Records: The device stores up to 20 sets of data records, allowing for easy review.
- Automatic Shut-down: The laser automatically turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity, and the instrument powers off after 180 seconds to conserve battery life.

5. User Tips
- For the most accurate measurements, ensure the device is held steady and the target surface is flat and reflective.
- Avoid measuring in direct sunlight or through transparent materials, as this can affect laser accuracy.
- Always check the measurement reference point (front or rear) before taking critical measurements.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the laser lens clean and free of dust.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use new AAA 1.5V batteries.
- Storage: Store the device in its cloth bag in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity.
7. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Inaccurate measurements: Ensure the laser lens is clean. Verify the measurement reference point is correctly set. Avoid measuring over long distances in bright sunlight or on highly reflective/transparent surfaces.
- Laser not visible: The laser may be difficult to see in bright light. Try measuring in a shaded area or use a target plate.
- Display issues: If the display is dim or flickering, replace the batteries.
