Connect the AC input (170-305VAC, 45-68Hz) to terminals 1 (PHS) and 2 (NTR). Connect the battery to be charged to terminals 4 (+) and 5 (-), ensuring correct polarity. The charger will automatically detect if it's a 12V or 24V battery.

4. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed and wired, the BC-4A-P operates automatically.

  1. Power On: Apply AC power to the input terminals (1 PHS, 2 NTR).
  2. Battery Detection: The charger will automatically detect the connected battery voltage (12V or 24V).
  3. Charging Process: The charger employs a 2-stage charging process suitable for continuous connection, ensuring optimal battery health and longevity.
  4. Status Indicator: Monitor the LED status indicator on the unit for operational feedback. (Specific LED indications are not detailed in provided data, refer to product label if available).
  5. Rectifier Fail Output: Terminal 3 (FAIL) provides a signal in case of a rectifier failure, allowing for integration with external monitoring systems.

5. Maintenance

The DATAKOM BC-4A-P battery charger is designed for minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure long-term performance:

  • Keep the unit clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger to prevent overheating.
  • Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion.
  • Do not expose the unit to direct moisture or corrosive environments.

6. Troubleshooting

The BC-4A-P includes built-in protection features. If the unit is not functioning as expected, consider the following:

  • No Output/No Charging: Check the AC input power supply. Verify that the input voltage is within the specified range (170-305VAC). Ensure all battery connections are secure and correctly polarized.
  • Overload/Short Circuit: The charger has output short circuit and overload protection. If an overload or short circuit occurs, the unit may temporarily cease charging. Remove the fault condition and the charger should resume normal operation.
  • Overheating: The charger features high temperature protection. If the unit becomes excessively hot, it may reduce output or shut down to prevent damage. Ensure proper ventilation and ambient temperature are within the operating range.
  • Rectifier Fail Output (Terminal 3): If this output is active, it indicates an internal fault with the rectifier. In this case, contact support.
