2. Package Contents

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Basic Connections

  1. Connect the X66 TV Box to your TV using the provided HDMI cable.
  2. Connect the power adapter to the TV Box and then plug it into a power outlet.
  3. Connect a mouse, air mouse, or other input devices to the USB ports on the TV Box.
  4. Once connected, the power LED on the device should turn blue.

3.2 Power On/Off and Sleep Mode

  • Power On: After connecting all cables, the device should power on automatically. The power LED will be blue.
  • Sleep Mode: In power-on mode, press the power button on the remote control to put the device into sleep mode.
  • Wake Up: From sleep mode, press the power button on the remote control to wake the device.
  • Power Off: Disconnect the power adapter to fully power off the device. The power LED will turn off.

3.3 Network Setup

  1. Wi-Fi Connection:
    • From the Home Screen, navigate to SETTINGS > Network.
    • Select Wi-Fi to enable the Wi-Fi function.
    • Choose your desired Wi-Fi hotspot from the list, enter the password, and connect.
  2. Ethernet Connection:
    • From the Home Screen, navigate to SETTINGS > Network.
    • Select Ethernet to enable the Ethernet function.
    • Insert a network cable into the Ethernet port on the TV Box. The network will connect automatically.
  3. WLAN Hotspot (if applicable):
    • From the Home Screen, navigate to SETTINGS > Other > More > Portable hotspot.
    • Select Set up Wi-Fi hotspot to configure the Network SSID, Security, and Password.
    • Ensure the TV Box is connected to a wired network to function as a wireless access point for other devices.

3.4 Remote Control Setup

The X66 TV Box comes with either a standard remote or an optional voice remote/mini keyboard, depending on your purchase variant.

3.4.1 Voice Remote Control

  • 2.4G Wireless Connection: The voice remote connects via a USB receiver. Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on the TV Box. It is plug-and-play, offering a wireless control range of up to 10 meters.
  • Voice Control: Press the dedicated voice button on the remote to activate voice commands and search for content.
  • Ergonomic Design: The remote features an arc design for comfortable handling.
  • Convenient Use: It includes 17 keys for easy control of volume, page navigation, and mouse functions.

3.4.2 IR Learning Function (for Voice Remote)

This function allows the voice remote to learn infrared codes from your TV remote, enabling control of basic TV functions.

  1. Press and hold the "Power" button on the voice remote until the LED flashing frequency changes from fast to slow. This indicates the air mouse has entered IR learning mode.
  2. Hold the air mouse and your TV remote's infrared receiving parts against one another. Press the power button on your TV remote.
  3. The LED indicator on the air mouse will turn on, then become flashing, indicating successful code reception.
  4. The LED turns off, meaning the mouse has successfully learned the infrared code values.
  5. After successful learning, the product will automatically store the code and exit learning mode.
  6. To clear the learned infrared code, press "OK" + "DEL" simultaneously.

3.5 Reading External Storage Data

  • U Disk: Insert a USB flash drive or removable hard disk into a USB port. An icon will appear on the top left corner of the desktop. Open "FileBrowser" and the identified USB drive will appear under "Local Disk".
  • TF Card: Insert a TF card into the device. An icon will appear on the top left corner of the desktop. Open "FileBrowser" and the identified External Storage Card will appear under "Local Disk".

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Application Management

  • Open Applications: Use the remote control's arrow keys to select the desired program and press the OK button to open it.
  • Switch Applications: Click "My Apps" to view recently used programs. Click on any program icon to switch to that application.
  • Close Applications: Click the icon (usually a square or multi-window icon) to view recently used programs. Select an application by clicking and holding, then drag it to a blank area to close it. (Note: This function typically requires mouse mode).
  • Back to Home Screen: Click the home icon on the remote control or the on-screen button to return to the home screen.

4.2 Media Playback and Streaming

The X66 TV Box supports 8K video decoding for high-definition content. It comes with pre-installed applications and supports popular internet services like NETFLIX, YouTube, and Skype. You can also install other applications from the Google Play Store.

4.3 Multi-screen Interaction

5. Maintenance

5.1 Firmware Update (Reflashing the Box)

To update the firmware of your X66 TV Box, follow these steps:

  1. Uncompress the downloaded firmware (ROM) to the root directory of an SD card. Ensure your SD card is formatted first.
  2. Insert the SD card into the powered-off TV Box (power cable not plugged in) with no external USB storage attached.
  3. Using a toothpick, insert it into the AV port of the Box. Press and hold the hidden button inside the AV port while plugging in the power cable. Do not release the button until you see the screen display the Robert Logo.
  4. The update process will run automatically. Once it is done, choose "Reboot". You can disregard any errors that may display after the update, as they are not relevant to your device.
  5. After the system reboots, check to ensure Wi-Fi is working by going to Settings > Wi-Fi. Turn on Wi-Fi if it's off, and you should be able to connect.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure all cables are securely connected, especially the power adapter. Check if the power LED turns blue.
  • No display on TV: Verify the HDMI cable is properly connected to both the TV Box and the TV. Ensure the TV input source is set to the correct HDMI port.
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: Double-check your Wi-Fi password. Ensure the TV Box is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Try restarting both the TV Box and your router.
  • Remote control not responding: Check the batteries in your remote. For wireless remotes, ensure the USB receiver is properly plugged into the TV Box. For voice remotes, ensure it's paired correctly.
  • Applications not loading/crashing: Try restarting the TV Box. Ensure you have sufficient storage space. Clear the cache of the problematic application.
  • Firmware update issues: Follow the firmware update instructions carefully. Ensure the SD card is properly formatted and the firmware file is placed in the root directory.
