2. Product Overview
The ENGWE P1 Electric Bicycle is a foldable e-bike designed for urban exploration and comfortable commuting. It features a powerful motor, long-range battery, and durable construction.

3. Setup and Assembly
Your ENGWE P1 electric bicycle comes partially assembled. Follow these steps for initial setup:
- Unfolding the Bicycle: Carefully unfold the frame and secure all locking mechanisms. Ensure the handlebar stem is upright and locked into position.
- Handlebar Adjustment: Adjust the handlebar stem height to your preferred riding position. Secure the quick-release lever firmly.
- Saddle Adjustment: Adjust the saddle height to ensure your feet can comfortably touch the ground when stopped, and your legs have a slight bend at the knee when pedaling. Secure the quick-release lever.
- Pedal Installation: Attach the pedals (if not already installed), ensuring they are tightened securely. Note that pedals are often left (L) and right (R) specific.
- Initial Battery Charge: Before your first ride, fully charge the battery. Connect the charger to the bike's charging port and then to a power outlet. The charging time is approximately 4-6 hours.
- Tire Inflation: Check and inflate tires to the recommended pressure of 30-40 PSI.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the bicycle, press and hold the power button on the Smart LCD Display. Repeat the action to power off the bicycle.
4.2 Smart LCD Display
The LCD display provides essential riding information and controls:
- Information Displayed: Battery Level, Current Speed, Light Indicator, Pedal Assist Level.
- Functions: Power On/Off, Turning Lights On/Off, Shifting Assist Levels.

4.3 Pedal Assist System (PAS)
The ENGWE P1 offers 5 levels of pedal assist, allowing you to choose the amount of motor assistance you receive while pedaling:
- Level 1: 20% assist
- Level 2: 35% assist
- Level 3: 55% assist
- Level 4: 75% assist
- Level 5: 99% assist
Use the controls on the LCD display to cycle through the assist levels. The maximum range in assist mode is up to 100km.
4.4 Pure Electric Mode
The bicycle can also be operated in a pure electric mode, where the motor provides power without requiring pedaling. In this mode, the maximum range is up to 47km (29 miles).
4.5 Gear Shifting
The ENGWE P1 is equipped with a Shimano 7-speed gear system. Use the shifter on the handlebar to change gears, allowing you to adapt to different terrains and riding conditions.

4.6 Braking
The bicycle features front and rear mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors. Squeeze the brake levers on the handlebar to engage the brakes. Ensure both brakes are functioning correctly before each ride.

4.7 Lights
The ENGWE P1 is equipped with an LED headlight and a brakelight indicator for enhanced visibility and safety. Control the lights via the Smart LCD Display.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ENGWE P1 electric bicycle.
5.1 Battery Care
- Charge the battery fully after each ride, especially if it has been significantly discharged.
- Avoid completely draining the battery before recharging.
- If storing the bike for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50-70% and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge every 1-2 months to prevent deep discharge.
- The battery is removable for convenient charging and security.

5.2 Tire Maintenance
- Regularly check tire pressure and inflate to 30-40 PSI as needed. Proper inflation improves ride quality and prevents punctures.
- Inspect tires for wear, cuts, or embedded objects.

5.3 Brake System
- Check brake pads for wear and replace them when necessary.
- Ensure brake levers are responsive and provide adequate stopping power. Adjust cable tension if brakes feel loose.
5.4 General Cleaning and Storage
- Clean the bicycle regularly with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
- Store the bike in a dry, sheltered area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- The bicycle has an IPX4 waterproof rating, meaning it is resistant to splashing water from any direction, but it should not be submerged.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ENGWE P1 electric bicycle.
- Bike not powering on: Check if the battery is properly seated and charged. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Motor not assisting: Verify that the pedal assist level is not set to zero. Check battery level. Ensure the motor cable is securely connected.
- Reduced range: This can be due to low tire pressure, riding in higher assist levels, frequent use of pure electric mode, or riding against strong headwinds. Ensure proper tire inflation and consider using lower assist levels for longer rides.
- Brakes feel weak: Inspect brake pads for wear. Check brake cable tension and adjust if necessary.
- Unusual noises: Inspect for loose components, rubbing parts (e.g., brake pads on rotor), or chain issues.
