6. Setup

  1. Charging the Device: Connect the HRM-10 to a 5V/1A power source using the provided TYPE-C data cable to ensure it is fully charged before first use.
  2. Connecting Test Leads: Securely connect the Kelvin clip test line to the designated port on the top of the HRM-10 host. Ensure a firm connection to prevent inaccurate readings.
  3. Powering On: Press and hold the power button (usually marked 'OK' or with a power symbol) to turn on the device.
  4. Initial Settings: Upon first use, you may need to configure basic settings such as language or auto-shutdown time. Navigate through the menu using the directional buttons and confirm with 'OK'.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 General Measurement

  1. Connect the Kelvin clips to the battery terminals. Ensure proper polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
  2. The device will automatically detect the voltage and resistance. The Kelvin 4-wire connection method ensures precise measurements by separating current and voltage paths.
  3. Read the voltage and resistance values displayed on the TFT HD color screen.

7.2 Testing Various Battery Types

The HRM-10 can test a wide range of batteries, including:

  • Lithium batteries (e.g., 18650, mobile phone batteries)
  • Lead-acid batteries (e.g., electric vehicle batteries, automobile batteries)
  • Carbon-zinc batteries
  • Alkaline batteries

7.3 Sorting Function

The sorting function allows you to preset up to 8 sets of voltage and resistance values to quickly identify premium batteries or pinpoint faulty ones in batches.

  1. Navigate to the 'Sorting Mode' in the system settings.
  2. Set the upper and lower limits for voltage and resistance for your desired battery type.
  3. Connect batteries one by one. The device will indicate 'PASS' or 'FAIL' based on your preset criteria, often accompanied by a buzzer alarm.

7.4 Data Hold

The Data Hold function allows you to pause the current measurement on the screen with a single click, preventing re-measurements and saving time and effort.

7.5 Historical Data Export

The HRM-10 automatically saves test records. You can connect the device to a PC via the TYPE-C data cable to export and analyze the data.

  1. Connect the HRM-10 to your computer using the TYPE-C data cable.
  2. The device will appear as a removable disk (e.g., 'HRM-10 DISK').
  3. Open the disk and locate the 'HISTORY' file (typically a .csv or similar format).
  4. Copy the file to your computer for analysis using spreadsheet software.

7.6 Auto Shutdown

To conserve battery life and ensure safety, the HRM-10 features an auto-shutdown mode. You can choose to disable it or set a specific shutdown time (e.g., 5min, 15min, 30min) in the device settings.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

  • Battery Care: For long-term storage, ensure the built-in lithium battery is charged to approximately 50-70% to prolong its lifespan. Recharge periodically if stored for extended periods.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the official FNIRSI website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Device not turning on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source via the TYPE-C cable.
  • Inaccurate readings: Check that the Kelvin clips are securely connected to the battery terminals and that the terminals are clean. Ensure the correct measurement mode is selected.
  • Data export issues: Verify the TYPE-C cable is properly connected to both the device and the PC. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • Buzzer not working: Check the volume settings in the device menu.

10. User Tips

  • The HRM-10 is suitable for testing LTO 66160H batteries.
  • For consistent results, ensure the battery is at a stable temperature before testing.
  • When using the sorting function, calibrate your voltage and resistance thresholds carefully based on the specific battery specifications you are working with.
