6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

Gently wipe the screen and camera lenses with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the device.

6.2. Micro SD Card Management

To ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption, it is recommended to regularly format your Micro SD card (e.g., once a month). Always back up any important video files before formatting the card.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your OBDPEAK H8 Dash Cam, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Q: Why does the dash cam automatically restart?
A: This issue is often caused by power supply problems or the Micro SD card. Try the following steps:
  1. Test the H8 with a different charging cable and power source (e.g., a USB wall adapter at home) to rule out car power issues.
  2. If the problem persists, try using a different Micro SD card. Ensure it is a high-quality Class 10, U1 card.
  3. If neither solution works, please contact customer support with a video of the issue.
Q: How do I choose a suitable Micro SD card?
A: For 4K resolution recording, a high-standard Micro SD card is essential. Look for cards with a U1 and Class 10 rating. Ensure these logos are visible on the card.
Q: Why can't I operate the screen when connected to the mobile app?
A: When your mobile phone is connected to the dash cam via the 'Roadcam' app, the app takes control of the device. Therefore, the dash cam's screen cannot be operated directly until the app connection is terminated.
Q: How do I activate parking surveillance mode?
A: The parking surveillance mode requires the installation of the OBDPEAK Hardwire Kit (sold separately). Once the hardwire kit is installed, you will find the option to enable parking surveillance mode in the dash cam's video settings menu.
Q: How do I install the GPS antenna correctly?
A: For optimal GPS signal reception, paste the GPS antenna on the top of your vehicle's windshield. Ensure there are no obstructions blocking its view of the sky.
Q: How do I change the mirroring effect of the rear camera?
A: Navigate to the settings menu on the dash cam, find and click on 'Back Mirror', then select either 'on' or 'off' to adjust the mirroring effect.
