3. Package Contents
Upon opening the package, please verify that all items are present and in good condition:

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Unscrew the battery compartment cap at the top of the meter (refer to Figure 2).
- Insert 4 x 1.5V LR44 button cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Securely replace the battery compartment cap.
Note: Batteries are not included in the package due to shipping regulations.
4.2 Electrode Preparation
- Remove the black electrode protection sleeve from the bottom of the meter.
- Install the metal probe protective sleeve onto the electrode before testing to prevent damage.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- Press the 'ON/OFF' button to turn the meter on.
- Press and hold the 'ON/OFF' button to turn the meter off.
5.2 Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the metal protective sleeve is installed.
- Insert the probe into the soil to a depth of 5-10cm (2-4 inches).
- Wait for the pH and temperature values on the LCD display to stabilize before reading.

5.3 Temperature Unit Conversion
- Press the 'HOLD/TEMP' button to switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉) temperature units.
5.4 Data Holding
- Press and hold the 'HOLD/TEMP' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
5.5 Bluetooth and APP Control
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
- Download the dedicated mobile application (available for Android and iOS).
- Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the YY-1033 meter via Bluetooth.
- The app will display real-time pH and temperature data.
- Utilize app features for data storage, sharing, and printing. The app also controls the backlight of the meter's display.

6. Calibration
The YY-1033 Soil PH Meter is generally pre-calibrated for immediate use. According to manufacturer information, there is typically no need for manual pH adjustment for standard operation, and calibration powder is not supplied as a standard accessory.
However, for advanced users or if recalibration becomes necessary over time, the device supports calibration at specific pH points (6.86/4.00/9.18 or 7.00/4.00/10.01). If manual calibration is required, you would need to acquire appropriate pH buffer solutions separately. Refer to the 'CAL' button on the device (Figure 2) and the mobile application for calibration procedures if external solutions are used.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Electrode
- After each measurement, wipe the electrode clean with a soft cloth or tissue.
- Ensure the electrode is free from soil particles and debris.
7.2 Storage
- Always replace the black electrode protection sleeve after use. This sleeve typically contains electrode protection liquid to keep the probe moist.
- Store the tester in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the electrode is clean. If readings remain inconsistent, consider performing a manual calibration with appropriate buffer solutions (if available).
- No data synchronization with APP: Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on both the meter and your smartphone. Ensure the app is installed correctly and has necessary permissions. Try restarting both the meter and the app.
- Damaged or non-functional product upon receipt: If the product is damaged, inconsistent with the order, or not working upon arrival, take clear pictures of the product and the package sticker. Contact customer service for assistance.
9. User Tips
- For best results, ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged when taking measurements.
- Insert the probe gently to avoid damaging the electrode.
- Regularly check the battery level, especially before important measurements, to ensure consistent performance.
- The mobile app offers long-term data recording, which is useful for tracking soil conditions over time and analyzing trends.
