6. Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your GM63B vibrometer for use:

  1. Battery Installation:

Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the device (refer to Figure 4.2). Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

  2. Attaching the Probe:

Select the appropriate probe (short, long, or magnetic) for your measurement needs. Connect the probe securely to the handle attachment connector at the top of the device. For the magnetic probe, ensure it is firmly attached to the measurement surface.

7. Operating Instructions

This section details how to perform measurements with your GM63B vibrometer.

  1. Power On/Off:

Press the ON/MEAS button to turn on the device. The LCD display will illuminate. To turn off the device, press and hold the ON/MEAS button, or allow the auto-off function to engage after a period of inactivity.

  2. Selecting Measurement Mode (Acceleration, Velocity, Displacement):

Press the A/V/D button repeatedly to cycle through the measurement modes: Acceleration (m/s²), Velocity (m/s), and Displacement (mm P-P). The selected mode will be indicated on the LCD.

  3. Selecting Frequency Characteristic (LO/HI - for Acceleration only):

When in Acceleration mode, press the HI/LO button to switch between low (10Hz~1KHz) and high (1KHz~15KHz) frequency ranges. This allows for more accurate measurements based on the vibration frequency of the object being tested.

  4. Performing a Measurement:

Place the probe firmly against the surface of the object you wish to measure. Press the ON/MEAS button to initiate a measurement. The current vibration reading will be displayed on the LCD.

10. User Tips

  • Unit Conversion: While the device primarily displays in m/s for velocity, if you require readings in mm/s, you will need to perform a manual conversion (1 m/s = 1000 mm/s).
  • Probe Selection: Utilize the magnetic probe for measurements on ferrous materials where a stable, hands-free connection is beneficial.
  • Stable Contact: For the most accurate readings, ensure the probe has firm and consistent contact with the surface being measured.

11. Warranty and Support

This product is covered by a manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. For warranty claims, technical support, or service inquiries, please contact your point of purchase or the manufacturer's customer service department. Keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase.
