5. Safety Information

  • Avoid touching exposed wires or components while the device is powered on.
  • Do not attempt to repair or modify the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
  • Keep the device away from strong electromagnetic fields.

6. Setup

6.1 Charging the Device

The BSIDE O2 comes with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Use the provided USB Type-C cable to charge the device. Connect one end of the cable to the device's Type-C port and the other end to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

6.2 Connecting Probes

  1. **Oscilloscope Probe (10X):** Connect the BNC connector of the oscilloscope probe to the OSC 1 or OSC 2 input port on the top of the device. Ensure it is securely twisted into place.
  2. **Alligator Clip Probe:** For signal generation, connect the red and black alligator clip probe to the 'OUTPUT' port on the side of the device.

6.3 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side or front panel) for a few seconds to turn the device on or off.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Basic Navigation

The device features a resistive touch screen and a function wheel for navigation. Use your finger or a stylus to interact with the touch screen menus and adjust settings. The function wheel can be used for fine adjustments or menu selection depending on the active mode.

7.2 Oscilloscope Mode

The BSIDE O2 operates as a dual-channel oscilloscope. You can select between Channel 1 (CH1) and Channel 2 (CH2) inputs.

  1. **Channel Selection:** Tap 'OSC 1' or 'OSC 2' on the screen to select the active channel.
  2. **Coupling (AC/DC):** Tap the coupling setting (e.g., 'ACx1', 'DCx10') to switch between AC and DC coupling modes.
  3. **Voltage Scale:** Adjust the vertical scale (Volts/Div) by tapping the voltage display or using the function wheel.
  4. **Time Base:** Adjust the horizontal scale (Time/Div) by tapping the time display or using the function wheel.
  5. **Trigger Settings:** Tap 'TRIGGER' to access trigger options. You can set the trigger level, edge (rising/falling), and mode (Auto, Normal, Single).
  6. **Measurements:** The device automatically displays key waveform parameters such as Vpp (Peak-to-Peak Voltage), Vmax (Maximum Voltage), Vmin (Minimum Voltage), Vavg (Average Voltage), RMS (Root Mean Square), Duty Cycle, and Frequency.

8. Signal Generator Function

The integrated signal generator can produce various waveforms for testing and calibration purposes.

  1. **Access Signal Generator:** Navigate to the signal generator interface (refer to the device's on-screen menu for specific access).
  2. **Select Waveform:** Choose from 7 types of signal waveforms, including Sine, Square, Tunable Pulse, Triangular, Positive Sawtooth, Irregular Noise, Positive Full Wave, Negative Full Wave, Multi-frequency Waves, Banner Waveform, Lorentz Pulse, Multi-frequency Tone, Trapezoidal Pulses, Zink Pulse, Positive Half-Wave, Negative Half-Wave, Electrocardiogram, and Gaussian White Noise.
  3. **Adjust Parameters:** Set the desired amplitude, frequency, and duty cycle using the touch screen controls or the function wheel.
  4. **Output Signal:** Connect the alligator clip probe to the 'OUTPUT' port and to your circuit under test.

9. Data Transfer

The BSIDE O2 allows for easy data management and secondary analysis by connecting to a PC via a USB cable.

  1. Connect the device to your computer using the provided USB Type-C cable.
  2. The device should appear as a removable storage device on your computer.
  3. You can then transfer recorded waveform data for further analysis using compatible software.

10. Maintenance

  • **Cleaning:** Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • **Storage:** Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided EVA storage bag for protection.
  • **Battery Care:** To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
  • **Probe Care:** Handle probes carefully. Do not bend or twist the cables excessively. Inspect probes for damage before each use.

11. Troubleshooting

  • **Device not powering on:** Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB Type-C cable and try again.
  • **No waveform displayed:** Check if probes are correctly connected to the input channels. Verify the input signal is within the device's measurement range. Adjust voltage and time scales. Check trigger settings.
  • **Inaccurate readings:** Ensure probes are properly calibrated (if applicable) and that the correct probe attenuation (e.g., 1X, 10X) is selected on both the probe and the device.
  • **Touch screen unresponsive:** Try restarting the device. Ensure the screen is clean and dry.
  • **Signal generator not outputting:** Check if the alligator clip probe is correctly connected to the 'OUTPUT' port. Verify the signal generator settings (waveform, amplitude, frequency) are configured.

12. User Tips

  • For quick measurements, utilize the 'AUTO' function to automatically adjust the display settings.
  • Familiarize yourself with the function wheel for precise adjustments, especially when fine-tuning waveform parameters.
  • Regularly back up your recorded data to a computer to prevent loss.
  • When measuring high voltages, always use the 10X attenuation setting on your oscilloscope probe and ensure it is correctly set on the device to prevent damage and ensure safety.
