1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CAIWEI S7+ 4K Smart Projector. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper usage and to maximize your viewing experience.

2. Important Safety Instructions

To ensure safe operation and prolong the life of your projector, please observe the following precautions:

  • Installation: For optimal projection, use the projector in a dark room or draw curtains. Avoid strong or direct light near the screen. Handle the projector carefully to prevent damage from dropping or crashing.
  • Power: Use the provided power cord and avoid excessive bending. Unplug the power cord after use.
  • High Temperature Attention: The exhaust port becomes very hot during and after operation. Avoid touching it to prevent burns. Do not look directly into the lens during operation to prevent eye injury.
  • Disassembly: Do not disassemble the projector. Unauthorized disassembly voids the warranty and poses a risk of electric shock.
  • Placement: Do not place liquids or heavy objects on the projector. Ensure the height bracket at the bottom is open for proper heat dissipation before starting.
  • Environment: Use the projector in environments with temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. Avoid dusty, wet, moist, or smoky conditions.
  • Ventilation: Poor ventilation can lead to overheating and damage.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Standard Setting and Projection Distance

Refer to the table below to adjust your picture size and projection distance (from the lens to the screen). Please allow 5%-10% error due to manual measurement.

4.2 Installation Methods

The projector supports various installation methods:

  • Front-Desktop: Projector placed on a table in front of the screen.
  • Front-Ceiling: Projector mounted on the ceiling in front of the screen.
  • Rear-Desktop: Projector placed on a table behind a translucent screen.
  • Rear-Ceiling: Projector mounted on the ceiling behind a translucent screen.

For ceiling mounting, remove the four footpads from the bottom of the projector to reveal the M4 screw holes. Attach the projector to a compatible ceiling mount bracket and tighten the screws.

5. Operation

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: When connected to power, the projector is in standby (red indicator). Press the power key on the body or remote control. The indicator will turn green/blue, and the projector will enter working state.
  • Power Off: In working state, press the power key on the body or remote control twice. The indicator changes from green/blue to red, and the projector turns off.

5.2 Screen Off, Reboot, Time Off

Press the power button once to access these options:

  • Screen Off: The screen turns off, and the fan stops, but audio continues. Press any key to resume.
  • Reboot: The projector will automatically shut down and restart.
  • Time Off: Set a timer for automatic shutdown (Off, 10 min, 20 min, 30 min, 60 min).

5.3 Connecting to Wi-Fi

To connect to Wi-Fi:

  1. Press the Android TV button on the remote.
  2. Navigate to "Network & Internet".
  3. Select your desired Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

5.4 Switching Input Source

  • Press the Source button on the remote control to select from AV, VGA, Android TV, HDMI, or USB.
  • To set a default startup source, press the Menu button, go to "Boot setting", and select the desired default Power on Launch App.

5.5 Focus Adjustment and Keystone Correction

The projector features advanced focus and keystone correction:

  • Auto Focus/Keystone: The projector automatically adjusts focus and keystone when powered on or moved, thanks to the 3.0 version autofocus with TOF components.
  • Manual Focus: Use the F+ and F- buttons on the remote for precise manual focus adjustment.
  • Four Point Keystone: Manually adjust the four corners of the image using the arrow keys until the image is rectangular.
  • Fast Keystone: Adjust the image vertically/horizontally until it becomes rectangular.
  • Digital Zoom: Adjust the image size from 50% to 100%.
  • Auto Screen Alignment / Intelligent Image Obstacle Avoidance: The projector can automatically adjust the image to fit the screen and avoid obstacles.

5.6 Playing Files from USB Drive

To play media from a USB drive:

  1. Insert the USB device into the projector's USB port.
  2. Press the Source button on the remote control and select "USB".
  3. In Android TV mode, go to Google Play store, download and install a "File Manager" app to access your USB drive.

  • Video: 3GP/AVI/FLV/MP4/MPG/VOB/TS/M2TS/DAT/MKV
  • Audio: MP3/APE/AAC/FLAC/OGG/WAV/WMA/MID/DTS/M4A

5.7 Bluetooth Connectivity

5.7.1 Connecting to Bluetooth Devices

To connect to Bluetooth devices:

  1. Press the Menu button on the remote and go to "Bluetooth".
  2. Turn on the "Add accessory" switch.
  3. Select and pair with your Bluetooth device from the list.

5.7.2 Bluetooth Speaker Mode

To use the projector as a Bluetooth speaker:

  1. Press the power button once, then select "BT Speaker".
  2. The projector will enter Bluetooth speaker mode and automatically connect to the last matched phone.
  3. You can now play music through the projector.

Note: For the first time, connect your phone and projector via Bluetooth. If multiple devices are matched, your phone might not connect by default. In this case, go to "Bluetooth Settings" and delete other matched devices.

5.8 Image and Sound Settings

Access these settings via the Menu button on the remote:

  • Image Settings:
    • Picture Mode: User, Standard, Vivid, Sport, Movie, Game, Energy Saving.
    • Picture Format: Auto, Full, Unscaled, 4:3.
    • Color Temperature: User, Cool, Standard, Warm.
    • Reset to Default: Reset all image settings to factory default.
  • Sound Settings:
    • Sound Type: User, Standard, Vivid, Sports, Movie, Music, News.
    • Key Tone: Turn projector operation sound on or off.

5.9 System and General Settings

Access these settings via the Menu button on the remote:

  • System Settings (About): Check for online firmware updates.
  • Language Setting: Change the menu language of the projector. For Android TV language, press the Android TV button, then Settings -> "Device Preferences" -> "Language".
  • General Settings:
    • Date & Time: Set the projector's date and time.
    • ARC(CEC): Enable/disable HDMI ARC and HDMI CEC functions.
    • Restore factory settings: Reset the projector to factory default.
    • Screen saver settings: Set up the projector's screen saver.

5.10 NFC Function & tranScreen

The projector supports NFC for mobile phone control and screen mirroring:

  1. Ensure the projector and your smartphone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Place the NFC icon on the remote control close to your smartphone's NFC core. The tranScreen app will launch (download and install it first if needed).
  3. Select the projector's name in the device list.
  4. Use the app for casting photos, audio/video, documents, or to control the projector as a mouse/trackpad/remote.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Projector

  • Shell: Unplug the power cable. Clean the shell regularly with a damp cloth and neutral detergent.
  • Lens: Use a glasses cloth or lens paper. Avoid scratching the lens.
  • Vents and Speakers: Clean regularly with a banister brush to prevent blockage.

6.2 Maintaining the Air Purifying Filter

To maintain purification efficiency, clean or replace the filter as needed:

  1. Access: Pull out the filter frame located at the projector bottom.
  2. Clean: Gently sweep dust from the filter element surface and pleats using a wool brush at least once a month (or weekly if used frequently).
  3. Replace: Replace the filter element every 3-6 months or after 500 hours of operation.

Note: The filter element is made of a special material and cannot be washed with water, as this will damage its adsorption performance.

6.3 Lens Cap

Slide the switch lever left or right to open/close the lens cover. Ensure "Auto Lens Retract" in "Projection Setting" is switched on for automatic closure.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Indicator light does not work:
    • Check power cable connection.
    • If power switch or board is faulty, contact seller for help.
  • Remote control not working:
    • Check if power switch is off, batteries are low, or remote is not aimed at IR receiver.
    • Avoid strong lights near IR receiver.
    • If remote is defective, contact seller.
    • For Android TV mode, connect a USB mouse, go to Settings -> Device Preferences -> Display & Sound -> HDMI CEC, and switch on "CEC Switch".
  • No image:
    • Check if input source is correctly selected or if input cable is connected.
    • In PC mode, ensure video output frequency is 50-60Hz.
    • Check if the lens is blocked or lens cover is off.
  • Auto-off:
    • Check for blocked ventilation, unstable voltage, or overheating. Ensure cooling fan is working.
  • System freeze up:
    • Contact seller for technical support if Android OS has a bug.
  • App contents cannot be mirrored:
    • Copyright-protected content from platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu cannot be mirrored or cast due to provider restrictions.

7.1 Re-pairing Remote with Projector

If App Shortcuts, Home, and Voice buttons on the remote do not work:

  1. Go to Settings in Android TV.
  2. Select "Remote & accessories" -> "RemoteG10" -> "Unpair".
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to re-pair the remote.
