2. Safety Instructions

To prevent damage to the unit and potential injury, please read this manual thoroughly and adhere to all installation instructions. This product undergoes rigorous function checks before shipping and is guaranteed against manufacturing defects.

  • Battery Disconnection: Before commencing installation, disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal to prevent damage to the unit, fire hazards, or risk of injury.
  • Professional Installation: For optimal performance and full warranty coverage, professional installation by an authorized SENNUOPU dealer is strongly recommended.
  • Vehicle Compatibility: The HIFI-X14 amplifier is designed for vehicles with a 12-Volt negative terminal connected to the chassis ground. Using it with any other system may damage the amplifier and the vehicle's electrical system.
  • Main Fuse: The positive power cable from the battery must include a main fuse, located no more than 30 cm from the battery. The fuse's value should be calculated based on the car audio system's maximum total current input.
  • Cable Selection: Use only appropriate cables with sufficient cross-section for connecting the HIFI-X14.
  • Fuse Replacement: Fuses (2 x 35 A) must be replaced with identically rated fuses to prevent damage to the amplifier.
  • Wire Routing: Plan wire routing carefully to avoid damage to the wire harness. All cabling must be protected from crushing or pinching. Avoid routing cables near potential noise sources such as electric motors, high-power accessories, and other vehicle harnesses.

4.1. Rear Panel Connectors and Controls

5.2. Wiring Instructions

5.2.1. Power Connection

  • +12V Power: Connect the +12V power cable to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery. A minimum of AWG 16 gauge wire is recommended.
  • Ground (GND): Connect the ground cable to a common ground reference point on the vehicle chassis. This point should be where the battery's negative terminal is grounded to the metal body of the vehicle, or a cleaned metal location on the chassis. A minimum of AWG 16 gauge wire is recommended.
  • Fuses: The HIFI-X14 uses two 35A fuses. If a fuse blows, replace it only with an identically rated fuse.

5.2.2. Input Connections

  • USB Input: Use the provided USB cable to connect your personal computer to the HIFI-X14 for software configuration. For USB sound card playback from smartphones, use a Lightning to USB adapter cable for iPhones or a USB OTG data cable for Android phones.
  • Optical Input (SPDIF): Connect digital audio sources with SPDIF output. The HIFI-X14 supports sampling rates between 12 kHz and 96 kHz.
  • Coaxial Input: Use for 2-channel pre-amplifier input from sources like car radios.
  • AUX Input (RCA): Use for 2-channel pre-amplifier input from various audio sources.
  • High-level Input (IN1-IN14): These 14 channels allow direct connection to the loudspeaker outputs of OEM or aftermarket radios/amplifiers that lack pre-amplifier outputs.

5.2.3. Output Connections

  • Speaker Outputs (OUT1-OUT14): Connect your car's speakers to these outputs.
    • CH1 & CH2 (Class D): Designed for powerful output, suitable for subwoofers. Minimum impedance is 2 Ohms.
    • CH3-CH6 (Class AB): Suitable for woofers. Minimum impedance is 4 Ohms.
    • CH7-CH14 (Class AB): Suitable for midranges and tweeters. Minimum impedance is 4 Ohms.
  • RCA Output (CH1-CH16): These 16 processed channels provide a maximum output voltage of 3 Volts, ideal for connecting additional external power amplifiers.

5.3. Power-on Mode Switch

The power-on mode switch allows you to select how the amplifier is activated:

  • HIGHT: Activates the amplifier via a high-level audio signal.
  • ACC: Activates the amplifier when the vehicle's ignition (ACC) is turned on.

Important: Ensure a reasonable configuration for ACC or high-level startup. Improper configuration may cause the DSP power amplifier to remain in a startup state after the vehicle is turned off, leading to excessive standby current consumption and potential shock noise during power-on and power-off.

5.4. System Configuration (Software)

The HIFI-X14 requires PC software for detailed configuration and tuning. This software can be downloaded from the official SENNUOPU website.

5.4.1. Input Routing

The software allows for flexible input routing:

  • Virtual Channel Processing: Ideal for systems using a 4-channel power amplifier output from the original car head unit. Signals are collected into the DSP route and then individually distributed to each speaker.
  • 1 to 1 Channel Routing (IOR): Suitable for systems utilizing the original car's 14-channel power amplifier output.

5.4.2. Output Configuration

After input signals are routed, virtual channels must be assigned to physical output channels. A single virtual signal (e.g., "Front L Full") can be assigned to multiple outputs (e.g., front left tweeter, midrange, and woofer).

The software enables precise adjustment of:

  • Channel-specific equalizers (31-band Parametric or Graphic EQ)
  • High-pass and low-pass filters
  • Delay settings (up to 20 milliseconds per channel)
  • Output level
  • Phase settings

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Remote Control Usage

The optional wired remote control unit (if purchased separately) provides convenient access to key functions:

  • LCD Screen: Displays current status and track information.
  • Previous/Next Buttons: Navigate through tracks.
  • Pause Button: Pauses/resumes playback.
  • Return Button: Returns to the previous menu or screen.
  • SRC Button: Selects the audio source.
  • Volume Knob: Adjusts the overall volume.

6.2. Audio Source Playback

  • U-Disk Playback: Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3, WMA, WAV, or FLAC files into the U-Disk interface. The system will automatically detect and play the music.
  • Bluetooth Playback: When the Bluetooth indicator light flashes, the HIFI-X14 is ready for pairing. Connect your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device to stream audio wirelessly.
  • Optical/Coaxial/AUX Inputs: Select the desired input source using the remote control or software interface to play audio from connected external devices.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the amplifier's ventilation fins are not obstructed to prevent overheating.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections for security and signs of wear or damage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power/Unit Not Turning On:
    • Check the power connections (+12V and GND) for secure contact.
    • Verify that the 35A fuses are intact. Replace any blown fuses with identically rated ones.
    • Ensure the power supply voltage is within the operating range (9V-16V). If it exceeds 18V, the unit may enter standby mode.
  • No Sound Output:
    • Check all audio input and output connections.
    • Verify the selected audio source on the remote control or software.
    • If using high-level inputs, ensure the 'HIGHT' power-on mode is correctly configured.
    • Check the power indicator light for 'Red' (Protection Mode), which indicates an issue.
  • Power Indicator Light is Red (Protection Mode):
    • This indicates an active protection circuit due to over/undervoltage, overheating, short-circuits, or incorrect connections.
    • Turn off the unit and inspect all wiring for short-circuits or improper connections.
    • Allow the unit to cool down if it has been operating for an extended period or in a hot environment. The internal temperature protection will switch off remote and signal output until a safe temperature is reached.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Check speaker connections and impedance.
    • Adjust gain settings in the DSP software.
    • Ensure proper frequency segmentation and filter settings in the DSP software.
