2. Compatibility Check

It is crucial to verify the compatibility of the replacement part with your tablet. Even if searching by tablet model number, different production batches may use varying cable codes. Ensure the cable code of the new component matches your tablet's original component.

3. Installation Steps (Reference Only)

While you may attempt the repair yourself, it is highly recommended to seek assistance from a professional technician for installation.

General steps typically involve:

  1. Power off the tablet and disconnect all cables.
  2. Carefully open the tablet casing.
  3. Disconnect the old screen's flex cables from the motherboard.
  4. Gently remove the damaged screen.
  5. Clean any adhesive residue from the tablet frame.
  6. Connect the new screen's flex cables to the motherboard.
  7. Perform a preliminary test before fully adhering the new screen (see Operating section).
  8. Once tested and confirmed working, apply adhesive and secure the new screen into the tablet frame.
  9. Reassemble the tablet casing.

Operating and Testing

After connecting the new screen but before final adhesion, it is essential to test its functionality:

  • Power on the tablet.
  • Check the display for any abnormalities, dead pixels, or color issues.
  • Test the touch functionality across the entire screen.
  • If the screen does not work, try resetting the tablet or updating its software. If issues persist after a hard restart (powering off/on using the physical button, not through the system), contact support.

Maintenance

Once installed, treat the new screen with care similar to the original. Avoid dropping the tablet, applying excessive pressure to the screen, or exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. Clean the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth, and avoid harsh chemicals.

Troubleshooting

Identifying the Correct Replacement Part

Before attempting any repair, it's important to correctly identify whether you need a new touch screen, an LCD display, or both:

Figure 6: Visual guide to determine if you need a Touch Screen or an LCD Screen replacement.
  • Touch Panel Digitizer Only: If the touch panel (outer glass) is cracked or broken, but the image displayed underneath is fine and fully visible, you only need to replace the Touch Screen.
  • LCD Display Only: If the image displayed under the touch screen is broken (e.g., black liquid, lines, or no full image), but the touch screen itself is still responsive, you only need to replace the LCD display.
  • Full Parts (LCD Display with Touch Screen): If both the touch panel is broken and the LCD image is damaged (e.g., black liquid, cracked display, or no image), you will need a complete screen assembly (LCD display with touch screen).

Post-Installation Issues

  • Screen not working after installation: Ensure all flex cables are securely connected. Try resetting the tablet or updating its software. If the issue persists after a hard restart (powering off/on by button), contact customer service.
  • Touch not responding: Verify the touch screen digitizer cable is properly seated. Ensure no debris is interfering with the connection.
  • Display issues (lines, flickering, no image): Check the LCD display cable connection. Ensure the cable is not damaged or bent.

User Tips

  • Double-Check Compatibility: Always compare the cable codes of your original screen with the replacement part before installation to ensure full compatibility.
  • Handle with Care: LCD and digitizer components are fragile. Handle them by the edges and avoid touching the display area or flex cables directly.
  • Static Electricity: Take precautions against static electricity, which can damage electronic components. Use an anti-static wrist strap if available.
  • Test Before Final Assembly: Always perform a full functional test of the new screen (display, touch, brightness) before applying adhesive and fully reassembling the tablet. This saves time and effort if a part is faulty or incorrectly installed.
