2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect the battery before performing any installation, maintenance, or wiring adjustments.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
- This controller is a sine wave type and requires a motor with a functional Hall sensor. It will not operate with sensorless motors or motors with broken Hall sensors.
- Professional installation is recommended due to the complexity of electrical wiring.
- Keep the controller and display away from water and excessive moisture.

5. Setup and Installation
Careful wiring is crucial for the correct operation of the controller and display. Refer to the wiring diagrams below for detailed connection instructions. It is highly recommended to have this system installed by a qualified technician.
5.1 Controller Wiring Diagram

Figure 3: Controller Wiring Diagram
Key Connections:
- Motor: Connect the motor phase wires (typically thick yellow, green, blue) and Hall sensor wires (smaller, usually 5-pin connector) to the corresponding ports on the controller.
- Battery: Connect the main battery positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to the controller's battery input.
- Throttle: Connect the throttle unit. Note: The throttle of the display and the throttle of the controller cannot work simultaneously. Choose one method.
- Hall: Connect the motor's Hall sensor wires.
- Start Soft/Hard: Connect this wire to switch between soft and hard start modes.
- Learning: These wires are used for the self-learning function. Connect them to initiate the learning process.
- Reverse: Connect for reverse function, if applicable.
- Display: Connect the SW900 display via the dedicated GT100 display connector.
- Alarm: Connect to an alarm system, if desired.
- BrakeLamp: Connect for brake light functionality.
- Single and Dual Drive/Switching: Connect this wire to switch between single and dual motor operation.
- Double Low Brake: Connect the brake levers.
5.2 Light and LCD Connector Wiring

Figure 4: Light and LCD Connector Wiring
Light Connector:
- Brown wire: To Lamp Positive (+)
- White wire: To Lamp Negative (-)
- Important: The lamp voltage must be the same as the battery voltage.
5.3 Initial Setup - Self-Learning Function
For the first-time use, it is essential to perform the self-learning function for each motor. This allows the controller to adapt to your motor's specific parameters. The self-learning function can only be used when the Pedal Assist System (PAS) is set to 2 or above on your display.
- Ensure all motor, battery, and display connections are correctly made.
- Power on the system.
- Connect the self-learning wires (refer to Figure 3). The motor should start spinning.
- If the motor spins in the wrong direction, disconnect the self-learning wires, wait a few seconds, and reconnect them. The motor should then spin in the correct direction.
- Once the motor spins correctly, disconnect the self-learning wires. The learning process is complete.
- Repeat this process for the second motor if using a dual-drive setup.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 SW900 Display Operation

Figure 5: SW900 LCD Display
The SW900 display provides real-time information such as speed, odometer (ODO), trip distance (TRIP), battery level, and power output (WATT). It also allows for setting parameters like PAS level and speed limits.
- Power On/Off: Typically, a long press of the power button (usually located on the display) will turn the system on or off.
- Mode Selection: Use the mode button to cycle through different display modes or settings.
- PAS Level: Adjust the pedal assist level using the up/down buttons. Remember, the self-learning function requires PAS to be 2 or above.
- Speed Limit: The speed limit function can be applied to both pedal assist and throttle operation. Consult the SW900 display's specific manual for detailed programming instructions.
6.2 Single/Dual Drive Switching
Utilize the dedicated 'Single and Dual Drive/Switching' wire to toggle between operating one motor or both motors simultaneously. This allows for flexibility in power output and battery consumption.
6.3 Start Soft/Hard
The 'Start Soft/Hard' wire allows you to select the motor's acceleration profile. A soft start provides a smoother, more gradual acceleration, while a hard start offers immediate, full power. Choose the setting that best suits your riding style and safety preferences.
7. Maintenance
- Regularly inspect all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
- Keep the controller and display clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the components to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Ensure the controller's heat sink fins are clear of obstructions for proper cooling.
8. Troubleshooting
- Motor not spinning or erratic behavior: Verify that the motor's Hall sensors are functional. This controller requires working Hall sensors. Perform the self-learning function if not already done.
- No power to display or motor: Check all battery connections and ensure the battery is charged. Verify the main power switch is on.
- Throttle not responding: Ensure only one throttle (either from the display or a separate throttle unit) is connected and active. They cannot work simultaneously.
- Self-learning function fails: Confirm that the PAS level on the display is set to 2 or above before attempting self-learning.
- Lights not working: Check the light connector wiring (Figure 4) and ensure the lamp voltage matches the battery voltage.
- Overcurrent/Undervoltage protection activated: This indicates a potential issue with the motor, battery, or an excessive load. Reduce load or check battery health.
9. User Tips
- Always double-check all wiring connections before applying power to prevent damage to components.
- When first setting up, perform the self-learning function carefully to ensure optimal motor performance and direction.
- Experiment with the 'Start Soft/Hard' setting to find the acceleration response that feels most comfortable and safe for your riding style.
