5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Physical Installation

The ZG-204ZL sensor is designed to be small and delicate, with a maximum diameter of only 33mm. It can be easily installed in various locations using the provided 3M adhesive sticker.

• Placement Options: Install on desks, bedside tables, office workspaces, walls, or other flat surfaces.
• Mounting: Use the adhesive sticker for secure placement.

5.2 Device Pairing (Requires Zigbee Gateway)

The ZG-204ZL sensor operates on Zigbee 3.0 protocol and requires a compatible Zigbee gateway to connect to your smart home system and the Smart Life/Graffiti Intelligence app.

1. Power On: Ensure the CR2450 battery is correctly inserted into the sensor.
2. Open App: Launch the Smart Life or Graffiti Intelligence app on your smartphone.
3. Add Device: In the app, navigate to the option to add a new device. Ensure your Zigbee gateway is already set up and connected.
4. Enter Pairing Mode: Use the provided mesh needle to press and hold the reset button on the sensor for a few seconds until the indicator light flashes, indicating it's in pairing mode.
5. Search Device: The app will begin searching for nearby Zigbee devices.
6. Confirm Pairing: Once the sensor is discovered, follow the on-screen prompts in the app to complete the pairing process. The app will confirm when the device has been successfully added.

6. Operating the Sensor

6.1 Motion Detection and Alerts

Once paired, the sensor will detect human movement within its 135° sensing range and up to 10 meters distance. When motion is detected, the app will push an alarm message to your mobile phone, allowing you to monitor the situation in real-time.

6.2 Intelligent Linkage

Leverage the intelligent linkage feature to connect your motion sensor with other Zigbee smart products in your home. For example:

• Automated Lighting: Set up a scene where lights automatically turn on when motion is detected in a room and turn off when no motion is detected for a set period.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by a CR2450 button battery, which provides a standby time of approximately 12 months. When the battery is low, the app may notify you. To replace the battery:

1. Use the provided rear lid opener to carefully open the sensor's casing.
2. Remove the old CR2450 battery.
3. Insert a new CR2450 battery, ensuring correct polarity.
4. Close the casing securely.

7.2 Cleaning

To ensure optimal performance, keep the sensor clean. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the device.

8. Troubleshooting

• Sensor not detecting motion:
  • Check if the battery is charged and correctly inserted.
  • Ensure the sensor is within the range of your Zigbee gateway.
  • Verify there are no obstructions blocking the sensor's field of view.
  • Confirm the sensor is properly paired with the gateway and configured in the app.
• Frequent false alarms:
  • Ensure the sensor is not placed near heat sources, air vents, or areas with significant air currents, which can trigger false detections.
  • Adjust the sensor's placement to avoid detecting pets or small movements if not desired.
  • The sensor incorporates airflow suppression technology to reduce false alarms; if issues persist, check for environmental factors.
• Sensor not connecting to app/gateway:
  • Make sure your Zigbee gateway is powered on and connected to the internet.
  • Re-attempt the pairing process as described in Section 5.2.
