4. How It Works

The signal booster system works by capturing weak outdoor cellular signals, amplifying them, and then rebroadcasting the stronger signal indoors. This process effectively bypasses obstacles like mountains, buildings, or thick concrete walls that typically block signals.

  1. **Outdoor Antenna**: Installed at a high location (e.g., roof), it catches the best available cellular signal from the nearest base station.
  2. **Cable Transmission**: The captured signal is transmitted via a cable to the signal booster unit.
  3. **Signal Amplification**: The GOBOOST signal booster amplifies the weak signal.
  4. **Indoor Antenna**: The amplified signal is then transmitted by the indoor antenna, distributing a strong, clear signal throughout your desired indoor area.
  5. **Improved Coverage**: As a result, your indoor signal status improves significantly, leading to better call quality and data performance.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Pre-Installation Check: Confirming Your Network Frequency

Before installation, it is crucial to identify the specific frequency bands used by your mobile carrier in your location. The booster will only amplify signals on the frequency bands it is designed for. If the frequencies do not match, the device will not function correctly.

How to check your network frequency:

  • For Android Devices:
    1. Download the application "Network Cell Info Lite" from your app store.
    2. Open the app and check the LTE band information displayed.
  • For Apple (iOS) Devices:
    1. Dial *3001#12345#* on your phone.
    2. Navigate to "Serving Cell Info" and check the frequency band indicator.

5.3 Installation Steps

  1. Mount the Outdoor Antenna:
    • Choose a high outdoor location (e.g., roof, pole) where the signal is strongest.
    • Ensure the outdoor antenna is pointed towards the nearest cell tower.
    • Mount the antenna securely to prevent movement in wind.
  2. Run Cable from Outdoor Antenna to Booster:
    • Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the outdoor antenna.
    • Route the cable indoors to the location where you plan to place the booster.
    • Connect the other end of the cable to the "OUTDOOR PORT" (BTS) on the signal booster.
  3. Mount the Indoor Antenna:
    • Install the indoor antenna in the center of the area where you need improved signal.
    • Ensure there is sufficient separation (at least 10-15 meters, or 30-50 feet) between the outdoor and indoor antennas to prevent oscillation (feedback).
  4. Run Cable from Indoor Antenna to Booster:
    • Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the indoor antenna.
    • Connect the other end of the cable to the "INDOOR PORT" (MS) on the signal booster.
  5. Connect Power:
    • Connect the power adapter to the "DC 5V" port on the booster.
    • Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. The booster will power on, and the LCD display should activate.

Important: Ensure all cable connections are tight and secure before powering on the device. Improper connection or insufficient separation between antennas can lead to poor performance or system oscillation.

6. Operating Instructions

Once powered on, the GOBOOST signal booster will automatically begin to amplify signals. The LCD display provides real-time information about the signal strength.

  • LCD Display: The LCD screen indicates the signal strength for each supported band (e.g., CH1, CH2). A higher number of bars or a stronger numerical reading indicates better signal reception.
  • Automatic Gain Control: The booster features automatic gain control to prevent interference with the cellular network and optimize performance.

You should observe an immediate improvement in your mobile signal bars on your phone. Test both voice calls and data speeds to confirm optimal performance.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the booster unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the booster is placed in a well-ventilated area. The metal case design includes bump heat dissipation for efficient cooling.
  • Cable Integrity: Periodically check all cable connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
  • Antenna Placement: Ensure outdoor antenna remains securely mounted and unobstructed.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Signal Improvement / Flashing Signal Indicators:
    • Check Frequency: Double-check that the booster's frequency bands match your carrier's bands in your area (refer to Section 5.1).
    • Antenna Separation: Ensure there is adequate physical separation (at least 10-15 meters) between the outdoor and indoor antennas. If they are too close, it can cause oscillation (feedback), which prevents the booster from working effectively. Try increasing the distance or placing a physical barrier between them.
    • Outdoor Signal Strength: Verify that the outdoor antenna is receiving a usable signal. If the outdoor signal is too weak, the booster may not have enough signal to amplify. Try repositioning the outdoor antenna.
    • Cable Connections: Ensure all coaxial cables are securely connected to both antennas and the booster unit. Loose connections can lead to signal loss.
    • Power Supply: Confirm the booster is receiving power and the power adapter is functioning correctly.
  • Poor Signal Penetration:
    • The booster has strong penetration ability, but extremely thick or metal-reinforced walls can still attenuate signals. Consider adding additional indoor antennas (if supported by the booster model and with proper splitters/cables) or repositioning the existing indoor antenna.
  • Booster is On but Phone Shows No Bars:
    • Move closer to the indoor antenna.
    • Restart your mobile phone.
    • Ensure your phone's cellular data is enabled.

9. User Tips

  • Frequency is Key: Always verify your local carrier's frequency bands before purchasing and installing. This is the most common reason for non-functionality.
  • Placement Matters: The effectiveness of the booster heavily relies on the optimal placement of both outdoor and indoor antennas. Experiment with different outdoor antenna orientations to find the strongest signal.
  • Cellular vs. Wi-Fi: This device is for amplifying cellular signals (2G/3G/4G/5G) for calls and mobile data, not Wi-Fi signals. It does not require a router to function.
  • Multiple Indoor Antennas: For larger areas or complex layouts, some users find success with multiple indoor antennas connected via a splitter, provided the booster supports it and proper signal balance is maintained.
