4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Align the battery with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
- To remove, press the release latch (if present) and slide the battery off.
4.2 Charging the Battery
The UV-K61 Pro supports two charging methods: Type-C direct charging and base charging.
- Type-C Direct Charging: Connect the provided Type-C cable to the Type-C Charging Port (22) on the radio and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, laptop, car charger). The Type-C Charging Indicator (21) will show charging status.
- Base Charging: Place the radio into the charging dock. Ensure the charging contacts on the radio align with those on the dock. Connect the base charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator on the base will show charging status.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment
- To power on, rotate the Power/Volume knob (3) clockwise.
- To power off, rotate the Power/Volume knob (3) counter-clockwise until it clicks.
- Adjust the volume by rotating the Power/Volume knob (3) while the radio is on.
5.2 Frequency Range Overview
The UV-K61 Pro supports a wide range of frequencies for both transmission (TX) and reception (RX):

5.3 Wireless Copy Frequency
This feature allows you to quickly match frequencies with another radio:
- Press the designated button (often labeled 'SEARCH' or similar, refer to your specific keypad layout) to enter the "SEARCH" interface.
- Press the button again to initiate the search for another radio's transmission frequency and privacy code.
- Once a frequency is detected, press the MENU key to store the frequency.
- After storing, the two walkie-talkies should be able to communicate normally.

5.4 NOAA Weather Radio Reception
The UV-K61 Pro can receive NOAA Weather Radio channels in the United States and Canada, providing long-term weather forecasts and real-time meteorological data. This helps in obtaining the latest weather and ocean conditions and can reduce the impact of extreme weather events through early warning.

5.5 LED Flashlight
The built-in LED flashlight (2) can be activated for illumination in dark environments, making it useful for camping, basements, night patrols, and other situations requiring a light source.

- Cannot Transmit/Receive: Verify that the frequency is correct and within the radio's TX/RX range. Check squelch settings. Ensure the antenna is connected.
- Poor Audio Quality: Adjust volume. Check antenna connection. Ensure you are within range of the other radio.
- Charging Issues: Ensure the charger and cable are properly connected. Check for damage to the charging port or cable.
