1. Introduction

Powered by an ESP32-S3 main control unit and featuring a 1.9-inch IPS HD color screen, it offers reception across a wide range of frequencies, including HF, SW, MW, and VHF bands, supporting LSB, USB, AM, and FM modes. Its durable 3D printed casing and long-lasting battery make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Locate the TYPE-C charging port on the side of the radio unit.
  2. Connect a standard USB Type-C cable to the radio and a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
  3. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status. A full charge provides over 10 hours of playtime.
  4. Note: Fast charging is not supported. Use a standard 5V USB charger.

4.2 Attaching the Antenna

  1. For optimal reception, attach the provided loop antenna to the SMA connector on the top of the radio unit.
  2. Gently screw the antenna connector onto the radio's port until secure. Do not overtighten.
  3. Alternatively, a telescopic antenna can be used for certain bands if preferred.

5. Operation

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the main knob (encoder) on the right side of the radio until the screen illuminates.
  • To power off, press and hold the main knob again until the screen turns off.

5.2 Basic Navigation and Tuning

  • Main Knob (Encoder): Rotate to change frequency or navigate menu options. Press to select an option or confirm a setting.
  • Menu Button: The button on the left side of the radio (often labeled 'MENU' or similar) is used to access the main menu.

5.3 Changing Bands and Modes

  1. Press the Menu button to enter the main menu.
  2. Rotate the main knob to scroll through options like 'Band', 'Mode', 'Step', 'AGC', 'BFO', etc.
  3. Press the main knob to select 'Band'. Rotate the knob to choose between 'HF', 'SW', 'MW', 'VHF', or 'ALL' (for all bands). Press to confirm.
  4. Similarly, select 'Mode' to switch between 'LSB', 'USB', 'AM', and 'FM'.
  5. Adjust 'Step' to change the tuning increment.

5.4 Tuning to a Frequency

  • Once a band and mode are selected, rotate the main knob to tune to your desired frequency. The frequency is displayed prominently on the IPS screen.
  • The signal strength indicator will help you find stronger signals.

5.5 Adjusting Volume

  • The volume can be adjusted directly using the main knob when not in a menu. Rotate clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease. The current volume level is shown on the screen.

5.6 Using the Loop Antenna

  • The loop antenna is designed for enhanced reception, especially for lower frequencies (9.9KHz-181MHz).
  • Orient the loop antenna for best signal reception. Sometimes rotating the antenna or the radio can significantly improve signal quality.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the antenna gently to prevent bending or breaking. Disconnect the antenna when transporting the radio to avoid damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the radio to a power source using the TYPE-C cable and try again.
  • Poor Reception: Check if the antenna is securely connected. Try repositioning the radio or rotating the loop antenna to find a better signal. Ensure you are in an area with adequate signal strength for the selected band.
  • No Sound: Check the volume level. Ensure headphones are properly plugged into the 3.5mm audio jack if using them.
  • Screen Not Responding: Try restarting the device by holding down the power button. If the issue persists, ensure the battery is charged.
