5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your TEKLEAD Barcode Scanner, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care (Wireless Models): For wireless models, ensure the battery is charged regularly. Avoid completely draining the battery for extended periods.
  • Cable Care (Wired Models): Inspect the USB cable periodically for any signs of wear or damage. Replace if necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your barcode scanner, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Scanner not responding: Ensure the scanner is properly connected (USB cable securely plugged in, wireless receiver inserted, or Bluetooth paired). Check if the scanner's battery (for wireless models) is charged.
  • No data transmitted: Verify that the scanner is successfully paired/connected to the host device. Check if the application on your computer/POS system is ready to receive input.
  • Unable to read barcodes: Ensure the barcode is clean and undamaged. Adjust the distance and angle of the scanner to the barcode. Check if the barcode type is supported by the scanner (refer to Section 4.2).
  • Slow scanning: Ensure there are no obstructions to the scanning window. If using wireless, check for interference or move closer to the receiver/host device.
