3. Safety Information
- Always disconnect power before installing or performing maintenance on the controller.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
- Installation should ideally be performed by a qualified technician to avoid damage to the product or injury.
- Do not expose the controller to water or extreme temperatures.
- Verify that the motor's power rating is within the controller's supported range (250W-400W).
4. Installation and Wiring
Carefully follow the wiring diagram below to connect the controller to your electric vehicle components. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the controller, motor, or other components.

Wiring Connections:
- Red/Black: Power+ / Power- (Main power input from battery).
- Green/Blue/Yellow: Motor A / B / C (Connect to the corresponding motor phase wires).
- Green (single wire): Self-study (Used for initial motor pairing/learning).
- Light/Horn: Connect to the vehicle's light and horn system.
- Brake Lamp: Connect to the brake light.
- Brake: Connect to the brake lever switch.
- Throttle: Connect to the throttle input (speed control).
- EABS Brake: Connect to the Electronic Anti-lock Braking System.
- Hall: Connect to the motor's Hall sensors.
- PAS (Pedal Assist System): Connect to the pedal assist sensor.
- LCD Display: Connect to the FOCAN-LCD display. Ensure the display supports UART NO.2 communication protocol.
- E-Door clock: Connect to the electronic door lock or ignition switch.
Important Note: The controller supports UART NO.2 communication protocol. If a different LCD screen is used that does not support this protocol, the LCD screen will display Error Code: E10 (Communications Receiving Failure). It is recommended to use a FOCAN-LCD display from our store for guaranteed compatibility.
5. Operation
Once the controller is correctly installed and wired, power on your electric vehicle. The controller will manage the power delivery to the brushless DC motor based on your throttle input and other connected sensors (e.g., PAS, brake). The connected FOCAN-LCD display will provide real-time information and allow for configuration of various parameters.
Initial Setup (Self-Study Function):
The "Self-study" wire (green, single) is typically used to automatically pair the controller with the motor's phase and Hall sensor sequence. Consult your motor's documentation or the FOCAN-LCD display manual for specific instructions on how to initiate the self-study process. This usually involves connecting the self-study wires, powering on, and observing motor rotation, then disconnecting the self-study wires once the motor runs smoothly.
6. Maintenance
- Regularly inspect all wiring connections for signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness.
- Keep the controller unit clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture.
- Avoid exposing the controller to direct sunlight for prolonged periods or to extreme heat/cold.
- Do not attempt to open the controller casing, as this may void any warranty and expose internal components to damage.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| LCD displays "E10" (Communications Receiving Failure) | Incompatible LCD display or incorrect communication protocol. | Ensure your LCD display supports UART NO.2 protocol. It is highly recommended to use a FOCAN-LCD display. Check the connection between the controller and the LCD. |
| Motor not responding / No power | Loose power connections, low battery, faulty throttle, or motor/Hall sensor issues. | Check battery charge. Verify all power and motor phase connections. Test throttle functionality. Check Hall sensor connections. Perform self-study if applicable. |
| Motor runs erratically or with reduced power | Incorrect motor phase/Hall sensor wiring, or motor/controller mismatch. | Re-check motor phase and Hall sensor connections according to the diagram. Ensure the motor's power rating is within the controller's supported range. Perform self-study. |
