5.1. Module Installation into Original Car Host

The Carplay module (PCBA) needs to be installed inside the original car host unit.

5.2. Cable Connections (PCM3.1 Example)

5.4. Transfer Fiber Optic Cable

If your car has a fiber optic cable, you must transfer it to the new power cable group:

  1. Disconnect the original OEM power cable from the car radio and reconnect it to the new wiring harness.
  2. Plug the new power cable group into the car radio.
  3. Move the original fiber optic cable to the new power cable group.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Original Car Button Operation

The module integrates with your car's original buttons for seamless control.

Steering Wheel Controls:
Short press to end call, long press to call Siri.
Head Unit Controls:
Press and hold 'INFO' button for 2 seconds to switch systems.
Rotate left/right to adjust volume.
Short press 'OPTION' to return, long press for 10 seconds for system forced upgrade.

6.2. Wireless CarPlay Connection

  1. In the module's smartphone settings, turn on 'CarPlay'.
  2. Check the Bluetooth device name (e.g., 'CAR-xxxx') in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  3. On your iPhone, turn on Wi-Fi and keep it on. Then, go back to Bluetooth and connect to the 'CAR-xxxx' device.
  4. Select the Bluetooth device name 'CAR-xxxx' and pair. A request window will pop up; choose 'Use CarPlay'.

6.3. Wireless AirPlay Connection

  1. In the module's smartphone settings, turn on 'AirPlay'.
  2. On your iPhone, select the Wireless LAN option. The search bar will show 'CAR-WIFI-XXX'. Click the link; the password is '66668888'.
  3. After successful Wi-Fi connection, return to your iPhone's main interface, open the Shortcut menu page, and select 'Screen Mirroring'.
  4. After 'Screen Mirroring' is turned on, select 'AirPlay' to complete the wireless screen mirroring.

6.4. Wireless Android Auto Connection

  1. In the module's smartphone settings, turn on 'Android Auto'.
  2. Check the Bluetooth name starting with 'CAR-xxx' in your Android phone's Bluetooth interface.
  3. Click on the Bluetooth name beginning with 'CAR-xxx'. A pairing request will pop up; click 'Pairing'.
  4. After successful Bluetooth pairing, follow the Android Auto connection process on screen. Turn on the Android Auto app on your mobile phone, and the system will connect automatically.

6.5. Wireless AutoLink Connection

  1. On your Android phone, scan the QR code (found in the PDF manual) or use your mobile browser to download and install the AutoLink app.
  2. In the module's smartphone settings, turn on 'AutoLink'.
  3. Open the AutoLink app, search for and connect to the Wi-Fi network named 'car-xxxxx'. Click 'Allow' in the pop-up window.

Note: AutoLink supports AUX audio only. You can also connect it wired via a Type-C cable.

7. System Settings

7.1. WiFi Channel Settings

If CarPlay/Android Auto connection frequently disconnects, try changing the Wi-Fi signal channel:

  1. Navigate to the module's menu screen.
  2. Go to 'Setup' > 'System' > 'WiFi'.
  3. Change the Wi-Fi channel to '48' or '161'. (Disconnections can be due to frequency interference).

7.2. Audio Settings (Call Echo Cancellation)

To adjust call echo cancellation:

  1. Go to 'Settings' > 'Audio'.
  2. Adjust 'Microphone OP gain' and 'Microphone Pga gain' as needed.
  3. For echo correction, click 'Start Auto AEC'. Keep the car quiet during this process.
  4. Wait 20 seconds for the estimation to complete.

7.3. Audio Connection Settings (AUX)

For AUX audio connections:

  1. In the module interface, turn off 'Use original Bluetooth' under 'System' settings.
  2. In the original car interface, navigate to 'Multimedia' and select 'AUX front'.

Important Notes:

  • Some models may not have AUX audio. You might need to activate it (e.g., at a service center or by searching online tutorials).
  • Bluetooth audio and AUX audio cannot be used simultaneously.
  • AirPlay/AutoLink do not support Bluetooth audio; only AUX audio is supported for these functions.

  1. Open 'Use Car BT Channel' in the module's system settings and set it to 'ON'.
