3. Operating Instructions
Making Espresso
- **Prepare the Portafilter**: Install the filter basket into the portafilter.
- **Add Coffee Powder**: Add a corresponding amount of finely ground coffee powder to the filter basket using the spoon.
- **Tamp the Powder**: Evenly press the coffee powder with the tamper to the level indicated. The fineness of the grind and the pressure of tamping will affect the extraction.
- **Insert Portafilter**: Insert the portafilter into the machine and lock it into place.
- **Select Shot**: Place your cup(s) under the portafilter. Choose either a single or double shot.
- **Brew**: Activate the brewing function and wait for the espresso to extract. The optimal extraction pressure is typically between 8-12 BAR.

Using the Steam Wand for Milk Frothing
- Fill the milk frother pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
- Turn the steam function on and wait for the machine to reach steaming temperature.
- Submerge the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk.
- Open the steam valve to release steam into the milk, moving the pitcher up and down to create froth.
- Once desired froth and temperature are achieved, close the steam valve and turn off the steam function.
- Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

Cup Warming Feature
The top surface of the machine is designed to gently warm your coffee cups, helping to maintain the temperature of your espresso once brewed. Place cups on the designated area before brewing.
4. Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- **Portafilter and Filter Basket**: After each use, remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds. Rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
- **Drip Tray**: The drip tray is detachable for easy cleaning. Empty and rinse the drip tray regularly to prevent overflow and maintain hygiene.
- **Steam Wand**: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve to purge any milk from inside the wand.
- **Water Tank**: Empty and rinse the water tank daily. Refill with fresh water for optimal taste.
Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits can build up inside the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, depending on water hardness) using a commercial descaling solution designed for espresso machines. Follow the descaling solution manufacturer's instructions carefully.
