3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to prepare your ANCEL PB50 for use:

  1. Install the Probe Tip: Insert the probe tip firmly into the round hole on the top of the detector. Ensure it is securely seated to prevent incorrect readings or disconnections.

4. Operating Instructions

The ANCEL PB50 offers four primary diagnostic modes, accessible via the Mode Button. Cycle through the modes to select the desired test.

4.1. DC Voltage Test

In this mode, contact the probe tip to a DC circuit. The LCD will display the DC voltage with a resolution of 0.1 volt. This is useful for checking power supply to components or voltage drops.

4.2. AC Voltage Test

When the tool is in AC Voltage mode, contact the probe tip to an AC circuit. The LCD will display the maximum voltage, minimum voltage, and frequency of the AC signal. This is useful for testing sensors that output AC signals.

4.3. Resistance Test

In Resistance mode, contact the probe tip to a circuit. The LCD will display the resistance value between the probe tip and the auxiliary ground lead. This helps in checking the continuity and resistance of wires and components.

4.4. Diode Test

In Diode mode, contact the probe tip to the positive terminal of a diode and connect the auxiliary ground lead to the negative terminal. The screen will display the forward voltage drop, indicating forward bias. If the connections are reversed, the screen will not display voltage, indicating reverse bias.

4.5. Other Functions

  • Power Injection: The PB50 can inject power into a circuit to activate components.
  • Ground Testing: Use the tool to test for good ground connections.
  • Polarity Checking: Quickly determine the positive, negative, or open status of a circuit.
  • Continuity Testing: Test the continuity of power switches, relays, and diodes.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery clamps are securely connected to the vehicle's 12V/24V battery terminals. Check for corrosion on battery terminals.
  • Incorrect Readings: Verify the probe tip is properly installed and making good contact with the circuit. Ensure the auxiliary ground lead is connected to a reliable ground point.
  • Short Circuits: The PB50 can help locate short circuits without blowing fuses. Follow the circuit path, using the tool to identify where the short occurs.
