1. Introduction
The ANENG MH15 is a battery-powered insulation resistance tester designed for a wide range of electrical measurements. It can accurately measure DC voltage, AC voltage, resistance, continuity (on-off), diode functionality, capacitance, and insulation resistance. This instrument offers four selectable test voltages for insulation resistance: 100V, 250V, 500V, and 1000V. Key features include polarity indication, over-range indication, data retention, and automatic discharge, making it a precise and user-friendly tool for electricians and DIY enthusiasts.
2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions when using this instrument to avoid electric shock or personal injury. Read and understand all instructions before use.
- Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked on the meter, between the terminals or between any terminal and earth ground.
- Use caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. Such voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Disconnect the test leads from the circuit under test before changing functions or ranges.
- Ensure the battery cover is securely closed before operation.
- Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged or if the insulation on the test leads is compromised.
- Discharge all capacitors before measuring resistance or capacitance.
- Always use the correct function and range for measurements.
3. Product Overview

5. Operating Instructions
Turn the function turntable (12) to select the desired measurement gear. Press the 'BL' button (6) to turn on the screen backlight for improved visibility.
5.1 Insulation Resistance Test
This function is crucial for assessing the integrity of electrical insulation in equipment like transformers, motors, cables, and switches.
- Connect the test probes to the INS+ (3) and INS- (4) terminals of the instrument.
- Select the desired output voltage (100V, 250V, 500V, or 1000V) using the function turntable.
- Press and hold the TEST button (11) to start the measurement. The instrument will begin testing.
- Alternatively, press the LOCK button (10) first, then press the TEST button (11). The instrument will continue to measure until the LOCK button is pressed again.
- Release the TEST button to stop the measurement and hold the last value.
- An 'OL' reading indicates infinite resistance, meaning there is no short circuit or leakage. A low reading (e.g., below 500 billion ohms) indicates a risk of leakage or poor insulation.

5.2 Diode Test
- Turn the function turntable to the Diode position (15).
- Connect the test leads to the diode. A light indicates a good diode.
- The display will show the forward voltage drop.

Video 3: Demonstration of diode testing (1:35-1:45).
5.3 Buzzer (Continuity) Test
- Turn the function turntable to the Buzzer position (15).
- Connect the test leads across the circuit or component.
- If the item is unobstructed (continuous), a beep alarm will sound. If there is no sound, it indicates an open circuit.

5.4 Resistance Measurement
- Turn the function turntable to the Resistance position (14).
- Connect the test leads across the component to measure its resistance.

5.5 Capacitance Measurement
- Turn the function turntable to the Capacitor position (16).
- **Important:** Remember to short-circuit and discharge the capacitor before testing to avoid damage to the meter.
- Connect the test leads to the capacitor terminals.

5.6 AC/DC Voltage Measurement
- Turn the function turntable to the AC/DC Voltage position (13).
- Connect the test leads to the circuit or battery.
- Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative electrodes when measuring DC voltage.
Video Demonstration:

5.7 Data Retention (HOLD)
Press the HOLD button (7) to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release and resume live measurements.
5.8 Range Selection (RANGE)
In some functions, the meter may automatically select the range. If manual range selection is desired, press the RANGE button (8).
5.9 Function Selection (SELECT)
The SELECT button (9) is used to cycle through different sub-functions within a multi-function gear (e.g., between Diode and Buzzer modes).
6. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the low power prompt (battery icon) appears on the display, replace all six AA batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the meter. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
- Storage: Store the meter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries.
- Silicone Sheath: The silicone sheath provides anti-drop protection. Ensure it is properly fitted to protect the hardware from damage.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Low Power: Check battery installation and replace batteries if the low power prompt is active or the display is blank.
- 'OL' Reading (Insulation Resistance): This indicates an open circuit or very high resistance, which is normal for good insulation. If 'OL' appears during a continuity test, it means an open circuit.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected and not damaged. Verify the correct function and range are selected for the measurement. Check battery level.
- Product Not Operating Properly: If you encounter operational problems, ensure you have followed all instructions. This brand recommends contacting their customer service for assistance with complex issues.
