1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the ZUOYA GMK70 Split Type Mechanical Keyboard Kit. This innovative keyboard features a unique split ergonomic design, hot-swappable switches, gasket mounting for a premium typing experience, vibrant RGB backlighting, and versatile multi-mode connectivity (2.4G wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired USB). It also supports QMK/VIA for advanced customization. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your new keyboard.

2. Setup

2.1 Package Contents

Before you begin, please ensure all components are present:

  • GMK70 Split Mechanical Keyboard Kit (unassembled or partially assembled)
  • USB-C Cable
  • 2.4G Wireless Receiver
  • User Manual (this document)
  • Keycap/Switch Puller (may be included)

2.2 Keyboard Structure Overview

Familiarize yourself with the internal components of your keyboard kit:

2.3 Installing Switches and Keycaps (if not pre-installed)

The GMK70 features hot-swappable sockets, allowing for easy installation and removal of mechanical switches without soldering. The keyboard supports 5-pin switches.

  1. **Switch Installation**: Align the pins of your mechanical switch with the holes on the PCB. Gently push the switch down until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  2. **Keycap Installation**: Press the desired keycap onto the stem of the installed switch until it is firmly seated.

2.4 Connecting the Split Halves

Connect the left and right halves of the keyboard using the provided cable. The connection port is located on the side of each half.

2.5 Connecting to Your Device

The GMK70 supports three connection modes: 2.4G wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired USB.

  1. **Wired Mode**: Connect the USB-C cable to the keyboard's charging/wired connection socket and the other end to your computer's USB port. The keyboard will automatically switch to wired mode.
  2. **2.4G Wireless Mode**: Insert the 2.4G wireless receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Toggle the wired/wireless/Bluetooth switch on the keyboard to the 2.4G position. The keyboard should connect automatically.
  3. **Bluetooth 5.0 Mode**: Toggle the wired/wireless/Bluetooth switch on the keyboard to the Bluetooth position. On your device (computer, laptop, tablet, or phone), search for Bluetooth devices and select "GMK70" to pair.

2.6 Driver and Software Installation (QMK/VIA)

For advanced customization, including key remapping, macro creation, and lighting effects, the GMK70 supports QMK/VIA software. You can download the necessary drivers and software from the official ZUOYA website or the provided Mediafire link:

Follow the on-screen instructions for installation. Once installed, you can use the software to configure your keyboard layers and settings.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Keyboard Functions

The GMK70 functions as a standard 68-key keyboard. Refer to the key layout for specific functions. The split design allows for a more natural hand position, reducing strain during extended use.

3.2 RGB Backlight Control

The keyboard features multicolor RGB backlighting. Specific key combinations (often Fn + a designated key) are used to cycle through lighting modes, adjust brightness, and change colors. Refer to the QMK/VIA software for detailed customization of lighting effects.

3.3 Knob Functionality

3.4 Battery and Charging

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Keyboard

  • **Keycaps**: Use a keycap puller to remove keycaps. Clean them with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly before reattaching.

5. Troubleshooting

  • **Keyboard not responding**: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected, or the 2.4G receiver is plugged in and the mode switch is correct. For Bluetooth, ensure it's paired and charged.
  • **Keys not registering**: Check if switches are fully seated. If a specific switch is faulty, try replacing it with a spare.
  • **Backlight not working**: Check backlight settings via key combinations or QMK/VIA software. Ensure the keyboard is powered.
  • **Connectivity issues**: Try reconnecting the split halves. For wireless modes, ensure no interference from other devices. Re-pair Bluetooth if necessary.
  • **QMK/VIA not detecting keyboard**: Ensure the correct drivers are installed and the software is up-to-date. Try restarting your computer.
