3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The GP Pointer requires one 9V battery (6F22ND). Please note that the battery is NOT included with the product due to shipping regulations. You will need to purchase a compatible 9V battery separately from a local retailer.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover, typically at the end opposite the detecting pin.
  2. Carefully open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert a new 9V (6F22ND) battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely. Ensure it is properly sealed to prevent moisture ingress, as the battery compartment is not waterproof.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Press the One-Touch Switch button to power on the device. Press and hold the button for a few seconds to power it off.

4.2 Detection Modes

The GP Pointer offers different alert modes suitable for various environments:

  • Quiet Environment: Vibration mode is ideal when sound alerts might be disruptive or unnecessary.
  • Outdoors: Sound mode provides clear audible alerts for easy detection.
  • Noisy Environment: A combination of Vibration & Sound ensures you don't miss any detections even in loud surroundings.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in dirty or wet conditions, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. Ensure no dirt or debris is lodged in the detecting pin area or around the button.
  • Battery Care: Remove the 9V battery if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Storage: Store the GP Pointer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Water Exposure: While the detecting pin is waterproof, always dry the device thoroughly after exposure to water, paying special attention to the battery compartment area.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check if the 9V battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
  • Weak/Inconsistent Detection: Ensure the battery is not low. Clean the detecting pin of any accumulated dirt or debris.
  • False Alarms: This can sometimes be caused by highly mineralized soil. The GP Pointer has a feature to help eliminate mineralization, but in extreme cases, adjusting your technique or location may be necessary.
  • No Audio/Vibration: Check the battery level. If using in a noisy environment, ensure both sound and vibration modes are active.
