6.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the power button (usually located at the bottom center of the control panel) until the screen illuminates.
  • To power off, press and hold the power button again until the device shuts down.

6.2 Navigation

The device features a 3.5-inch HD TFT color screen and a control panel with directional buttons (up, down, left, right), an OK button, and function keys (F1-F4) for navigating menus and selecting options.

6.3 OTDR Test

The SS303T-2A1 offers both Automatic and Manual OTDR test modes.

  • Automatic OTDR: This mode simplifies testing by automatically recognizing the link, setting optimal parameters, and performing acquisitions and analyses across multiple wavelengths. It consolidates results for each link section and network element, providing immediate, accurate information. This mode is ideal for untrained technicians.
  • Manual OTDR: For experienced users or specific testing scenarios, manual mode allows you to set parameters such as wavelength, test range, pulse width, and test time. This provides greater control over the test process to meet specific requirements.

6.4 Event Map/Graphics Analysis Mode

The Event Map function simplifies the interpretation of OTDR test results. It graphically represents the network topology, dynamically locating and identifying all network components and fault locations with maximum resolution. This feature provides an intuitive visual aid for fiber optic test engineers.

6.5 Optical Power Meter (OPM)

Select the OPM function from the main menu. Connect the fiber to be measured to the OPM port using the 2.5mm universal connector. The device will display the optical power in dBm or mW within the 800nm-1700nm range.

6.6 Optical Light Source (OLS)

Select the OLS function. Connect the fiber to the OLS port. The device can emit light at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths with various modulation frequencies (CW, 270Hz, 330Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz) for continuity testing or loss measurement when paired with an OPM.

6.7 Visual Fault Locator (VFL)

Activate the VFL function. Connect the fiber to the VFL port. The VFL emits a visible red laser (650nm) up to 10km, allowing for quick visual identification of breaks, bends, or poor connections in fiber optic cables. The VFL can operate in continuous wave (CW) or pulsed (1Hz, 2Hz) modes.

6.8 Optical Loss Test (OFLT)

This function allows for measuring optical loss at 1310nm and 1550nm. Refer to the on-screen instructions or the detailed user manual for specific steps on performing loss tests.

6.9 RJ45 Cable Tracker

The integrated RJ45 Cable Tracker can test cable continuity and identify wiring faults for RJ45 Ethernet cables over distances greater than 300m. Connect one end of the RJ45 cable to the device's RJ45 port and the other end to the remote locator unit.

6.10 Data Storage

The device can store up to 800,000 groups of curve data. Test results can be saved in SOR format. Use the Micro USB port or TF Micro SD card slot to transfer data to a computer for further analysis and reporting.
