  • Buffer Shift Switch: This toggle switch activates the buffer function when the pedal is in bypass (OFF) status.

  • DC 9V Input: Connect a standard 9V DC center-negative power supply here.
  • Input/Output Jacks: Standard 1/4-inch mono jacks for connecting your instrument and amplifier/other pedals.

4. Setup

  1. Power Connection: Connect a DC 9V center-negative power adapter (not included) to the DC 9V input jack on the top of the pedal. Ensure the power supply meets the specified voltage and polarity requirements.
  2. Instrument Connection: Connect your guitar or bass to the input jack (typically on the right side of the pedal).
  3. Output Connection: Connect the output jack (typically on the left side of the pedal) to your amplifier or the input of another effects pedal in your signal chain.
  4. Buffer Activation: If you wish to use the buffer function when the pedal is bypassed, ensure the "BUFFER" toggle switch is set to the ON position.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Engaging the Effect: Press the footswitch to turn the pedal ON. The Status LED will illuminate red.
  2. Adjusting Boost: Rotate the Boost Knob to set the desired gain level. Start with the knob at 0dB and gradually increase it to achieve your preferred boost.
  3. Bypassing the Effect: Press the footswitch again to turn the pedal OFF. The Status LED will turn off.
  4. Using the Buffer: If the "BUFFER" toggle switch is set to ON, the pedal will function as a buffer even when the effect is bypassed. This helps maintain signal strength over long cable runs or complex pedal chains. If the switch is OFF, the pedal will be in true bypass when disengaged.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the pedal in a dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Power Supply: Always use a regulated DC 9V center-negative power supply to prevent damage to the unit. Disconnect power when not in use for extended periods.

7. Troubleshooting

No sound when pedal is ON:
  • Check all cable connections (instrument, amplifier, power).
  • Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and providing the specified DC 9V center-negative power.
  • Verify that your instrument and amplifier are functioning correctly.
  • Test with different cables.
No boost effect:
  • Ensure the pedal is engaged (Status LED is red).
  • Check the Boost Knob position; turn it clockwise to increase gain.
Unwanted noise/hum:
  • Ensure you are using a high-quality, regulated power supply.
  • Check for ground loops in your setup.
  • Try isolating the pedal from other power sources or effects.

8. User Tips

  • Power Supply: Always use a DC 9V center-negative power supply. Using a power supply with a higher voltage (e.g., 18V) is not recommended as it may damage the pedal and is outside the specified operating parameters.
  • Buffer Usage: Experiment with the Buffer Shift Switch. Activating the buffer can be particularly useful in pedal chains with many true bypass pedals or long cable runs to prevent signal degradation.
  • Gain Staging: The Sonic Super Master can be used to push the front end of an amplifier for natural overdrive, or to boost other pedals in your chain. Experiment with its placement for different tonal results.
