Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your thermometer:
- Cleaning the Probe: After removing the disposable lens filter, gently wipe the probe and tip with an alcohol swab or a soft cloth dampened with alcohol. Allow it to dry completely before storing.
- Cleaning the Device Body: Wipe the main body of the thermometer with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
- Storage: Store the thermometer in its protective case at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Use two 1.5V AA (LR06) batteries.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your thermometer, consider the following:
Factors Affecting Measurement Accuracy:
- Improper Probe Positioning: Ensure the temperature sensor is accurately positioned in the ear canal.
- Reusing Lens Filters: Always use a new, clean Braun lens filter for each measurement. Reusing filters can lead to inaccurate readings and hygiene issues.
- Unclean Lens: If the lens is not clean, it can affect accuracy. Ensure the lens is clean before attaching a new filter.
Factors Causing Low Temperature Readings:
- Low Ear Canal Temperature: If the ear canal temperature is unusually low, it may result in a lower reading.
- Improper Insertion: Incorrect insertion of the probe can lead to inaccurate low readings.
- Sweating: Excessive sweating can affect skin temperature and lead to lower readings.
If you suspect any of these factors, wait approximately 20 minutes before taking another temperature measurement.
