Component Identification

Familiarize yourself with the various parts of your WS-6908 device:

Battery Installation and Charging

The device comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery. Before first use, ensure the battery is properly installed and fully charged.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Connect the Li-ion battery to the designated connector inside the compartment.
  3. Place the battery into the compartment and close the cover securely.
  4. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 12V input port on the device and plug it into a wall outlet. The "Charge" indicator light will illuminate.
  5. Allow the device to charge until the "Charge" indicator light changes or turns off, indicating a full charge.
  6. Alternatively, use the car charger to charge the device in a vehicle.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

  • To power on, slide the Power switch to the 'ON' position.
  • To power off, slide the Power switch to the 'OFF' position.

2. Satellite Dish Alignment

  1. Connect LNB: Connect the cable from your satellite dish's LNB to the "LNB IN" F-type connector on the WS-6908.
  2. Select Satellite: From the main menu, navigate to "Satellite Install" or "Quick Search" using the arrow keys and press "OK".
  3. Configure Parameters: Select the desired satellite from the list. If necessary, adjust parameters such as LNB type, LO frequency, Transponder frequency, Symbol Rate, and Polarization (13V/18V). The device supports 22KHz tone and DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/1.2.
  4. Adjust Dish Position: Slowly adjust the azimuth and elevation of your satellite dish. Observe the signal strength and quality bars on the LCD screen.
  5. Achieve Signal Lock: When a strong signal is detected, the "Lock" indicator LED will light up, and an audible alarm will sound. Fine-tune the dish position for maximum signal strength and quality.
  6. Verify Channel: Once locked, you can view the channel picture (if available) and check CBER/VBER and S/N values for optimal performance.
  7. Save Settings: Follow on-screen prompts to save the satellite settings if desired.

3. AV Input/Output Functionality

  • AV OUT: Connect the AV cable from the "AV OUT" jacks on the WS-6908 to the AV input of an external monitor or TV to display the device's screen on a larger display.
  • AV IN: Connect an external video source (e.g., a CCTV camera) to the "AV IN" jacks. Select the AV IN mode from the device's menu to view the external video feed on the WS-6908's screen.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for a long period, charge the battery to about 50% and recharge every few months.
  • Protective Bag: Always use the provided protective bag when transporting the device to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

  • External Display: For prolonged setup or group viewing, utilize the AV OUT feature to connect to a larger screen.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for any available firmware updates that might improve performance or add features.
