Lepmerk Handheld Metal Detector

Lepmerk Handheld Metal Detector User Manual

Model: Handheld Metal Detector

1. Introduction

The Lepmerk Handheld Metal Detector is designed for the accurate location of metal objects during treasure recovery. It can be used independently or in conjunction with a ground metal detector to pinpoint targets. Featuring a built-in induction coil, the device provides immediate alarms upon metal detection. Its versatile design makes it suitable for finding relics, jewelry, and for use in confined interior areas like walls and ceilings. It also serves as a utility locator for metal pipes, conduits, rebar, and control boxes, and can locate nails and metal wall studs in homes.

4.3 Alarm Modes

The detector provides audible and vibrating alarms to indicate the presence of metal objects. The alarms increase in intensity (both sound and vibration pulse rate) as the detector approaches the metal target. There are three selectable alarm modes:

  1. Only buzzer alarm sounding.
  2. Only vibration.
  3. Both buzzer alarm and vibration simultaneously.

Refer to the device's display and controls for switching between these modes.

4.4 Low Voltage Indication

The device includes a low voltage indication function to alert you when the battery needs replacement.

4.5 Applicable Environments

The detector is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Security checks at airports and venues.
  • Locating items at sports events.
  • Panning for precious metals.
  • General treasure hunting and recovery.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

The detector has an IP66 waterproof rating, meaning it is fully protected from dust and can withstand powerful water jets. You can wash it under running water to clean off dirt and debris. Ensure the battery cover is securely closed before washing.

5.2 Battery Replacement

Replace the 9V 6F22 battery when the low voltage indicator activates or when the device's performance diminishes. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.

5.3 Storage

When not in use, store the metal detector in a cool, dry place. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage and damage to the device.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Power:
    • Check if the battery is correctly installed.
    • Ensure the battery has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • No Detection/Weak Signal:
    • Verify the device is powered on.
    • Check battery level.
    • Ensure the detection coil is close enough to the target.
    • The target might be too small or too deep for detection.
  • False Alarms/Erratic Behavior:
    • Environmental interference from strong electromagnetic fields or other electronic devices can cause false alarms. Move to a different location.
    • Ensure the device is not in contact with any metal objects on your person (e.g., belt buckles, jewelry).

8. User Tips

  • Practice with Known Objects: Before heading out, practice detecting various metal objects (coins, jewelry) in a controlled environment to get a feel for the detector's response.
  • Scan Slowly and Systematically: Move the detector slowly and methodically over the area you are searching to ensure thorough coverage and avoid missing small targets.
  • Use Headphones (if applicable): While this model has built-in alarms, using headphones with other metal detectors can help you hear subtle audio cues more clearly, especially in noisy environments.
  • Adjust Sensitivity: If your detector has sensitivity settings, adjust them based on the environment. Lower sensitivity can reduce false signals in highly mineralized soil.
