1. Introduction

The BSIDE V30 is an intelligent True RMS digital multimeter designed for professional and enthusiast use. It combines the functionalities of a digital multimeter, an infrared temperature gun, and an induction pen, making it a versatile tool for various electrical and temperature measurement tasks. Featuring a 20000-count display, EBTN color HD LCD, and a dual power supply system, the V30 offers high precision and convenience for electricians, engineers, and electronic hobbyists.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions before using this product. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Always ensure the test leads are correctly inserted into the appropriate input jacks for the measurement being performed.
  • Do not exceed the maximum input values specified for each range.
  • Never operate the meter if it appears damaged or if the test leads are damaged.
  • Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. Such voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • Ensure the meter is set to the correct function and range before making measurements.
  • Do not attempt to measure current in a circuit where the voltage exceeds the meter's maximum current input rating.
  • The device is rated CAT III 600V for high safety.
  • Keep fingers behind the finger guards on the test probes during measurements.
  • Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears.

5. Setup

5.1 Power Supply

The BSIDE V30 features a dual-mode power system:

  1. Built-in Rechargeable Lithium Battery: The multimeter comes with a built-in 1200mAh 3.7V lithium battery. This battery can be charged via the included USB charging cable. Connect the USB cable to the multimeter's charging port and a standard USB power source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter).
  2. Optional AAA Alkaline Batteries: For extended use or as a backup, the device supports two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries (not included). To install, open the battery compartment on the back of the device and insert the batteries, observing correct polarity.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads

The test leads are essential for most electrical measurements. Always ensure they are securely connected to the correct input jacks before use.

  1. Insert the black test lead into the COM (Common) input jack.
  2. Insert the red test lead into the INPUT jack for voltage, resistance, capacitance, diode, and frequency measurements.
  3. For current measurements (mA/uA), insert the red test lead into the 200mA FUSED input jack.

6. Operating Instructions

The BSIDE V30 features an intelligent automatic mode selection for common measurements like AC/DC voltage and resistance. Other functions can be selected manually using the function switch key.

6.1 General Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Press the Power button to turn the multimeter on or off.
  2. Automatic Mode: In auto mode, the multimeter will automatically identify and measure AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity.
  3. Function Selection: Use the Function Switch Key to cycle through different measurement modes (e.g., Voltage, Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, Frequency, Infrared Temperature, NCV, Live).
  4. AC/DC Selection: In voltage or current modes, press the AC/DC switch button to toggle between Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) measurements if not automatically detected.

6.2 Measurement Functions

Below are instructions for specific measurement types:

DC Voltage Measurement

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the DC Voltage mode (if not in auto mode).
  3. Place the test probes across the component or circuit to be measured.
  4. Read the DC voltage value on the display.

AC Voltage Measurement

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the AC Voltage mode (if not in auto mode).
  3. Place the test probes across the component or circuit to be measured.
  4. Read the AC voltage value on the display.

DC/AC Current Measurement

  1. IMPORTANT: Current must be measured in series with the circuit. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before connecting the meter.
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.
  3. Connect the red test lead to the 200mA FUSED input jack.
  4. Select the Current mode. The meter can automatically identify AC or DC current.
  5. Break the circuit and connect the test leads in series with the load.
  6. Re-energize the circuit and read the current value on the display.

Resistance Measurement

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the Resistance mode.
  3. Ensure the circuit or component is de-energized before measuring resistance.
  4. Place the test probes across the component.
  5. Read the resistance value on the display.

Capacitance Measurement

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the Capacitance mode.
  3. Ensure the capacitor is fully discharged before measurement to prevent damage to the meter.
  4. Place the test probes across the capacitor.
  5. Read the capacitance value on the display.

Diode Test

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the Diode mode.
  3. Place the test probes across the diode. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the probes to check for open circuit.

Frequency Measurement

  1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the INPUT jack.
  2. Select the Frequency mode.
  3. Place the test probes across the circuit where frequency is to be measured.
  4. Read the frequency value on the display.

Infrared Temperature Measurement

  1. Press the Infrared Temperature Measurement button.
  2. Point the laser transmitter towards the target object. The laser helps in precise targeting.
  3. The display will show real-time temperature and maximum temperature during the scanning process.

V-Alert (Non-Contact Voltage Detection)

  1. Select the V-Alert mode.
  2. Move the top of the multimeter near a live AC voltage source.
  3. The meter will indicate the presence of AC voltage through audible beeps and/or visual indicators on the display.
