2. Safety Information

3.2 Initial Assembly

  1. Place the main unit on a stable, flat surface.
  2. Attach the solder wire spool holder to the designated slot on the top of the unit.
  3. Insert the soldering iron holder into its slot on the side of the unit. Ensure the cleaning sponge is in place.
  4. Connect the desired soldering handpiece (tweezers or iron) to the appropriate port on the front of the unit.
  5. Connect the power cord to the unit and then to a suitable power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

The YIHUA 982D-I PRO offers a range of features for precise and efficient soldering.

4.1 Power On/Off

To power on the unit, press the main power switch located on the rear of the station. The full-color LCD display will illuminate, showing the YIHUA logo during startup, then displaying the current and set temperatures.

4.2 Temperature Adjustment

The temperature can be adjusted from 90°C to 450°C (194°F to 842°F) using the rotary knob on the front panel. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the temperature and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

4.3 Customizable Temperature Presets

The station features four customizable temperature preset channels (CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4). These allow you to quickly switch between frequently used temperature settings.

  • CH1 (300°C/572°F): Recommended for Tinning & Cleaning.
  • CH2 (350°C/662°F): Recommended for General Soldering.
  • CH3 (380°C/716°F): Recommended for Tinning & Cleaning.
  • CH4 (400°C/752°F): Recommended for Ground Planes.

To set a preset, adjust the temperature to your desired value, then press and hold the corresponding channel button (CH1-CH4) until the setting is saved.

4.4 Dual Tweezers Operation

The C716C tweezers handpiece allows for simultaneous heating of two points, making it ideal for desoldering small SMD components.

4.5 Sleep Mode and Automatic Shutdown

The station features intelligent sleep and automatic shutdown functions to conserve energy and extend the lifespan of the heating elements.

  • Sleep Mode: When the handpiece is placed in its holder, the station enters a low-wear idling sleep mode, reducing the tip temperature to 200°C (392°F). This mode is adjustable from 1 to 10 minutes.
  • Automatic Shutdown: If the handpiece remains in sleep mode for an extended period (configurable), the unit will automatically shut down.

4.6 Password Protection

The station can be password-locked to prevent unauthorized changes to settings. Refer to the built-in digital manual for instructions on configuring and using the password lock.

4.7 Buzzer and Temperature Unit Settings

The unit allows you to toggle the buzzer sound ON/OFF and switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) temperature units. These settings can be accessed through the menu on the display.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Automatic Temperature Calibration

  1. Adjust the temperature to 250°C (482°F) or higher.
  2. Pick up the handpiece and allow it to stabilize.
  3. Press and hold the temperature calibration button for approximately 2 seconds.
  4. Turn the knob to select Tool A/B calibration.
  5. Place the soldering iron tip in full contact with the thermocouple in the calibration port.
  6. Press the knob to exit once calibration is successful.
