3. Safety Instructions

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the equipment or injury to yourself, please read and follow these safety instructions carefully:

  • Power Supply: Ensure the unit is connected to a grounded power outlet with the correct voltage (110V or 220V as per your model). Do not operate with damaged power cords.
  • Heat Hazard: The hot air gun and soldering iron reach very high temperatures. Always use caution to prevent burns. Do not touch the heating elements or tips.
  • Ventilation: Use the rework station in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes from soldering and desoldering. Consider using a fume extractor.
  • ESD Protection: Always use appropriate Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions, such as an ESD wrist strap and mat, when working with sensitive electronic components.
  • Flammable Materials: Keep flammable liquids, gases, and materials away from the work area.
  • Tool Handling: Always place the hot air gun in its holder and the soldering iron in its stand when not in use.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the device out of reach of children and pets.
  • Maintenance: Disconnect power before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
  • Modifications: Do not attempt to modify the unit. Repairs should only be performed by qualified personnel.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to assemble and set up your ATTEN MS-300 rework station:

  1. Place the three main units (Hot Air Station, DC Power Supply, Soldering Station) into the fixed cover. Ensure the Hot Air Station is on the left, the DC Power Supply in the middle, and the Soldering Station on the right.
  2. Install the front cover. The side with the gap should face inwards, and the flat side should face outwards.
  3. Install the top cover. Its height can be adjusted as needed.
  4. Secure all components using the provided screws and plastic thumb screws.
  5. Connect the hot air gun and soldering iron handles to their respective ports on the main units.
  6. Connect the 3-in-1 power cord to the unit and a suitable power outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Hot Air Station (ST-862D)

The hot air station is designed for desoldering and rework of SMD components. It features precise temperature and airflow control.

  • Power On/Off: Use the main power switch on the hot air station unit.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the up/down buttons to set the desired temperature within the range of 100℃-480℃ (212℉-896℉). Coarse and fine-tuning options are available.
  • Airflow Adjustment: Adjust the airflow from 1-99% (20-130 L/min) using the dedicated controls.
  • Shortcut Temperature/Airflow: Utilize the 3 sets of shortcut buttons to quickly recall frequently used temperature and airflow settings.
  • Handle Button Start/Stop: The hot air gun handle features a button for convenient start/stop operation, enhancing safety.
  • Functions:
    • Standby Heater Cooling: Automatically cools the heater when the gun is placed in its holder.
    • Beeping: Provides audible feedback for operations and alarms.
    • Timing: Allows setting a specific operation time.
    • Standby Auto-sleep: Enters sleep mode after a period of inactivity to save energy and prolong heater life.
    • Cold Air: Provides cold air for cooling components.
    • Temperature Preset & Lock: Save and lock specific temperature settings to prevent accidental changes.
    • Password Protect: Secure settings with a password.
  • Nozzles: Four different nozzles are included for various applications.

5.2 Soldering Station (ST-965)

The soldering station provides stable and accurate temperature for various soldering tasks.

  • Power On/Off: Use the main power switch on the soldering station unit.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Set the desired temperature between 200℃-450℃ (392℉-842℉) using the up/down buttons. Coarse and fine-tuning are available.
  • Shortcut Temperature: Use the 3 sets of shortcut buttons for quick access to predefined temperature settings.
  • Functions:
    • Auto-sleep: The soldering iron will enter sleep mode after a period of inactivity.
    • Auto Turn Off Heating: Automatically turns off heating after extended inactivity in sleep mode.
    • Beeping Function: Provides audible alerts.
  • Soldering Tip: The station uses T900-0.2IS soldering tips.

5.3 DC Power Supply (APS15-3A)

The DC power supply offers stable and adjustable voltage and current for testing and powering electronic circuits.

  • Power On/Off: Use the main power switch on the DC power supply unit.
  • Voltage/Current Adjustment: Continuously adjust voltage and current within the rated range.
    • Rated Output Voltage: 0-5V / 0-15V (dual steps).
    • Rated Output Current: 0-5A / 0-15A (dual steps).
    • Digital Encoder: Adjusts voltage with coarse and fine adjustment modes for precise control.
    • 2 Stages Quick Setting: Quickly set current and voltage to two predefined stages.
  • Displays: Dual LCD and bridge-current meter displays for monitoring output.
  • USB Interface: Independent 5V USB interface providing up to 2.1A current, supporting quick charge protocols, with over current and short circuit protection.
  • Protection Functions:
    • OCP (Over Current Protection): Automatically recovers from overcurrent conditions.
    • OHP (Over Heat Protection): Protects the unit from overheating.
    • Constant Current Output: Maintains a stable current output.
  • Lock Output Function: Prevents accidental changes to output settings.
  • Beep Alarm Function: Provides audible alerts for operational status or errors.
  • Intelligent Fan Control: Fan speed is automatically adjusted based on internal temperature.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your rework station.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always disconnect the power before cleaning.
    • Wipe the exterior of the units with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
    • Keep the air vents clear of dust and debris to ensure proper cooling.
  • Soldering Iron Tip Care:
    • Regularly clean the soldering iron tip with a damp sponge or brass wool to remove oxidation and solder residue.
    • Tin the tip with fresh solder after each use and before storage to prevent oxidation.
    • Replace worn or damaged tips promptly to maintain soldering quality.
  • Hot Air Gun Nozzles:
    • Ensure nozzles are clean and free from obstructions.
    • Replace damaged nozzles to maintain proper airflow and heat distribution.
  • General Inspection:
    • Periodically inspect all cables and connections for signs of wear or damage.
    • Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
