1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the KEFAR KR-6802 series barcode scanners. This series includes three models: KR-6802 (USB Wired), KR-6802W (2.4GHz Wireless + USB Wired), and KR-6802B (Bluetooth + 2.4GHz Wireless + USB Wired). Please identify your model to follow the correct instructions.

2. Model Overview

The KEFAR KR-6802 series offers versatile connectivity options to suit various needs:

  • Model KR-6802: USB Wired Connection ONLY.
  • Model KR-6802W: 2.4GHz Wireless and USB Wired Connections.
  • Model KR-6802B: Bluetooth, 2.4GHz Wireless, and USB Wired Connections.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1. General Setup (All Models)

  1. Charging: Before first use, fully charge the scanner using the provided USB cable. The 2000mAh Li-Ion battery provides long standby time and approximately 6-8 hours of continuous scanning.
  2. Plug & Play: All models are designed for plug-and-play operation, requiring no driver installation.

3.2. Model-Specific Setup

3.2.1. KR-6802 (USB Wired)

  1. Connect the scanner to your computer's USB port using the provided USB cable.
  2. The computer will automatically detect and install the device.
  3. The scanner is ready for use.

3.2.2. KR-6802W (2.4GHz Wireless + USB Wired)

  1. Wired Connection: Follow the instructions for Model KR-6802.
  2. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection:
    1. Insert the Mini USB Receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
    2. The computer will automatically detect and install the receiver.
    3. Scan the "Pair Method" barcode from the user manual (physical or digital).
    4. The scanner will connect wirelessly to the receiver.

3.2.3. KR-6802B (Bluetooth + 2.4GHz Wireless + USB Wired)

  1. Wired Connection: Follow the instructions for Model KR-6802.
  2. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection: Follow the instructions for Model KR-6802W.
  3. Bluetooth Connection:
    1. Ensure your device (computer, tablet, phone) has Bluetooth enabled.
    2. Scan the "Pair Method" barcode from the user manual.
    3. Scan the "Bluetooth HID mode" barcode from the user manual to activate Bluetooth pairing mode.
    4. On your device, search for new Bluetooth devices and select "BarCode Scanner HG" (or similar name) to pair.
    5. Once paired, the scanner is ready for Bluetooth operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Scanning Barcodes

  1. Point the scanner's window at the barcode you wish to scan.
  2. Press the trigger button. A light will emit from the scanner.
  3. Ensure the light beam covers the entire barcode.
  4. A successful scan will be indicated by an audible beep and/or a visual indicator (e.g., green light).
  5. The scanned data will appear in the active application on your connected device.

4.2. Working Modes (KR-6802B & KR-6802W)

These models support two working modes:

  • Instant Upload Mode: Barcodes are synchronously uploaded to your computer as they are scanned.
  • Storage Mode: Barcodes are stored in the scanner's internal memory (256 KB, capable of storing over 2600 codes) and can be uploaded to the device when needed. To switch to storage mode, scan the appropriate barcode from your user manual.

4.3. Supported Symbologies

The scanner supports a wide range of 1D and 2D barcode types:

  • 1D Barcodes: UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 39, Code 93, Code 32, Code39(ASCII), Industrial 2 of 5, Interleave 2 of 5, Matrix 2 of 5, NW7, Code 128, UCC/EAN128, USD-8, MSI /Plessey, UK /Plessey, GS1 DataBar, Postal Code.
  • 2D Barcodes: DataMatrix (ECC200), QR Code, PDF417, Micro PDF417, Maxicode, Micro QR, Aztec.

4.4. Keyboard Language Support

The scanner supports multiple keyboard layouts for international use, including English, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, French, German, Italian, and Canadian.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the scanner's exterior. For the scanning window, use a lint-free cloth and a mild cleaning solution if necessary. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Battery Care: For models with rechargeable batteries, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan. Recharge when the battery indicator is low.
  • Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Durability: The scanner features an industrial-level anti-shock design, capable of withstanding repeated 4.9ft (1.5m) drops to concrete. However, avoid unnecessary drops or impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Try a different USB cable or port.
  • Contact support if the issue persists after trying different cables/ports.

8. User Tips

  • For optimal performance, ensure the barcode is flat and well-lit when scanning.
  • When using wireless modes, keep the scanner within the recommended transmission distance (up to 328 feet for 2.4GHz wireless).
  • If experiencing slow scanning or missed reads, try adjusting the distance and angle to the barcode.
  • Regularly check the battery level for wireless models to avoid interruptions during use.
  • For Bluetooth connections, ensure your host device's Bluetooth is discoverable during the pairing process.

9. Warranty and Support

All KEFAR products come with a warranty of not less than 12 months, with some models extending up to 24 months. In case of any defects within 30 days of shipment, products will be replaced. For technical support or warranty claims, please contact KEFAR customer service. Spare parts may be provided for mass orders for local maintenance.
