4. Installation and Setup
4.1. Physical Installation
The Ourtrop Smart Energy Meter is designed for DIN Rail mounting (35 mm, EN 60715). Ensure sufficient space for wiring and ventilation.
4.2. Wiring Diagram
Follow the wiring diagram carefully. Incorrect wiring can damage the device or lead to inaccurate readings. This meter is designed for three-phase systems.

Wiring Precautions:
- Current Transformer (CT) Installation:
- Ensure the direction of the internal P1 to P2 is carefully checked.
- Current direction P1 to P2: Measure the positive active power.
- The black wire of the transformer must be connected to the B1 terminal.
- The red wire of the transformer must be connected to the B2 terminal.
- The black wire of the transformer must be connected to the B3 terminal.
- The red wire must be connected to the B2 terminal.
Note: The above terminals cannot be connected incorrectly.
- Voltage Wiring:
- L1 wire: The black wire of transformer 1 must be connected to the B1 terminal.
- L2 wire: The black wire of transformer 2 must be connected to the B2 terminal.
- L3 wire: The black wire of transformer 3 must be connected to the B3 terminal.
- N wire: Connect to the N terminal.
4.3. App Pairing
The meter supports connection via WiFi (2.4GHz) and Bluetooth. It is compatible with the Tuya Smart / Smart Life app.
- Download and install the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app from your mobile app store.
- Register or log in to your account.
- Ensure your device is powered on and the indicator light is blinking (pairing mode). If not, reset the device by pressing the reset button for 5 seconds.
- In the app, tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon.
- Select the appropriate device type (e.g., "Gateway" or "Zigbee 3 Phase Meter" if available, or search for "Power Strip (Wi-Fi)" or similar if not directly listed).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi network and enter the password.
- Confirm the indicator is blinking in the app.
- The app will discover and add the device. Once successfully added, you can rename it and start monitoring.
5. Operation
Once connected to the mobile app, you can monitor various electrical parameters and manage your energy usage.
5.1. App Functions and Monitoring
The mobile application provides real-time data and historical records for comprehensive energy management:
- Total Active Energy (kWh): Overall energy consumption.
- Positive Active Energy (kWh): Energy consumed from the grid.
- Reverse Active Energy (kWh): Energy fed back to the grid (e.g., from solar panels).
- Total Active Power (kW): Instantaneous total power consumption.
- Total Reactive Power (kVar): Instantaneous reactive power.
- Total Power Factor: Indication of electrical efficiency.
- Each Phase: Current (A), Voltage (V), Power (W): Detailed measurements for each of the three phases.
- Bidirectional Metering: Capable of measuring energy flow in both directions.

5.2. Device Sharing
The energy meter's data can be shared with up to 20 users via the mobile application, allowing multiple household members or authorized personnel to monitor energy usage.
6. Maintenance
The Ourtrop Smart Energy Meter is designed for low maintenance. Regular checks can help ensure optimal performance:
- Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
- Ensure the operating environment stays within the specified temperature range (-20℃ to +60℃).
- Regularly update the mobile application to the latest version for new features and bug fixes.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your energy meter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device not connecting to Wi-Fi:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz networks.
- Check if the device is in pairing mode (blinking indicator light). If not, reset it.
- Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
- Ensure the device is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Double-check all wiring connections, especially the Current Transformer (CT) clamp directions (P1 to P2).
- Ensure the CT clamps are securely closed around the correct phase wires.
- App not displaying data:
- Confirm the device is successfully connected to the app and online.
- Check your internet connection on your mobile device.
- Restart the app or the energy meter.
8. User Tips
- App Compatibility: This device is compatible with the Tuya Smart and Smart Life applications, allowing for integration into existing smart home ecosystems.
- Electric Vehicle Charging: While designed for 3-phase systems, this meter can potentially monitor 2-phase 220VAC loads (like some EV chargers) if wired correctly, by utilizing two of the three available phases. Consult a qualified electrician for specific wiring configurations for non-standard setups.
- Cable Length: The current transformer cables are typically designed for standard installation distances. If longer cables are required, ensure they are of appropriate gauge and quality to maintain accuracy and safety.
