  • Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection or calibration.

4.3 External Module Installation

The external module bay is compatible with micro JR bay modules. To install an external module:

  • Ensure the remote control is powered off.
  • Carefully insert the external module into the module bay at the rear of the remote control.
  • Power on the remote control. The system should detect the new module.

4.4 Software Upgrade

The V16 PRO supports both online (USB-C) and offline (SD card) software upgrades.

  • USB-C Online Upgrade: Connect the remote control to a computer via the USB Data port and follow the instructions provided by the EdgeTX software.
  • SD Card Offline Upgrade: Copy the firmware files to an SD card, insert it into the SD Card slot, and follow the upgrade procedure outlined in the EdgeTX documentation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Controls

The remote control features gimbals, switches, and dials for precise control of your RC models. Refer to Figure 2.2 for the location of each control.

  • Gimbals: Control primary flight surfaces (e.g., aileron, elevator, rudder, throttle). The V16 PRO uses non-contact 3D vector Hall gimbals for enhanced precision.
  • Switches (SA, SB, SC, SD, LS, RS): These are typically used for activating different flight modes, gear, flaps, or other auxiliary functions. Their specific assignments are configured within the EdgeTX software.
  • Dials (S1, S2): Provide proportional control for various functions, such as camera tilt or gain adjustments.
  • Trim Buttons (T1-T6): Used to make small adjustments to the neutral position of the gimbals during flight.

5.2 Touch Screen Navigation

The 4.3" IPS touch screen is the primary interface for menu navigation and settings adjustment.

  • Tap icons or menu items to select them.
  • Swipe to navigate through pages or lists.
  • Use the Menu Wheel for alternative navigation.

5.3 AI Voice Assistant

The V16 PRO features an intelligent voice assistant for hands-free control. To activate and use:

  • Say "Hello Radio" to activate the voice assistant.
  • If no valid voice command is detected within 8 seconds, the assistant will enter sleep mode.
  • Refer to the table below for common voice commands and their expected responses/actions.

5.4 Programmable Features

  • Gimbal LED Customization: The 16-color gimbal LEDs can be customized using simple Lua programs. This allows users to define unique lighting patterns or colors based on flight modes or other parameters.
  • Button Programming: The 6 functional buttons can be programmed to perform specific actions and display corresponding LED colors. Refer to the EdgeTX documentation for detailed programming instructions.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the remote control, especially the touch screen. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Care: Always use the intelligent charging circuit to charge the battery. Avoid over-discharging or over-charging the battery to prolong its lifespan. Store the remote control with a partially charged battery if not in use for extended periods.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for and install the latest EdgeTX firmware updates to ensure optimal performance, access new features, and benefit from bug fixes.
  • Storage: Store the remote control in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Abnormal Voltage/Current Alarms: The V16 PRO's real-time monitoring system will alert you to abnormal voltage or current readings. Investigate the cause immediately. This could indicate a battery issue, a faulty component, or an overload on an external module. The system may automatically shut down to prevent damage.
  • Voice Assistant Not Responding: Ensure you are speaking clearly and directly into the microphone. If the assistant does not respond after saying "Hello Radio," try again. If it consistently fails, check the voice assistant settings in the EdgeTX menu. Remember it enters sleep mode after 8 seconds of no valid command.
  • External Module Issues: If an external module is not detected or is causing errors, ensure it is correctly seated in the module bay. Check for any current overload or short circuit warnings from the V16 PRO's monitoring system.
  • Touch Screen Unresponsive: If the touch screen is unresponsive, try restarting the remote control. If the issue persists, consider performing a software update or consulting the EdgeTX community forums.
