1. Introduction

The KONNWEI KW310 is a compact and easy-to-use OBD2/EOBD car diagnostic scanner designed to help you quickly identify and resolve issues with your vehicle. It supports all 10 OBDII test modes and is compatible with most 12V OBD II certified gasoline and diesel vehicles, both domestic and imported, manufactured from 1996 onwards. This tool is not compatible with hybrid or electric vehicles. The KW310 features a clear LCD display, intuitive button controls, and multi-language support to make vehicle diagnostics accessible to everyone.

2. Safety Precautions

The KW310 features a robust design with an LCD screen for displaying information and a set of four control buttons for navigation. It includes an integrated OBDII cable with a 16-pin connector for direct connection to your vehicle.

4. Setup and Initial Configuration

4.1 Connecting the Device

  1. Locate the vehicle's 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). This is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF.
  3. Firmly plug the KW310's OBDII connector into the vehicle's DLC.
  4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine can be off or running, depending on the test). The KW310 will power on automatically.

4.2 Language Selection

The KW310 supports multiple languages. To change the language:

  1. From the main menu, navigate to 'System Setup' using the arrow buttons and press ENTER.
  2. Select 'Language' and press ENTER.
  3. Choose your desired language (English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese) from the list and press ENTER to confirm.

5. Operating Instructions

The KW310 provides a range of diagnostic functions to help you understand your vehicle's health. Navigate through menus using the UP/DOWN arrow buttons, confirm selections with ENTER, and return to the previous screen with ESC.

5.1 Key Diagnostic Functions

The KW310 offers the following 11 core functions:

  • Read Codes: Retrieves generic (P0, P2, P3, U0) and manufacturer-specific (P1, P3, U1) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and pending codes.
  • Erase Codes: Clears DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Check Engine Light (MIL). This also resets monitors.
  • Live Data: Displays real-time operating parameters of the vehicle's engine in text or graph mode (for 1996 and newer vehicles). This includes live PCM datastream and O2 sensor test data.
  • View Freeze Frame Data: Shows a snapshot of the vehicle's operating conditions at the time a fault code was set.
  • I/M Readiness Status: Checks the status of emission-related monitoring systems to determine if they are ready for an emissions test.
  • O2 Monitor Test: Retrieves and displays O2 sensor monitoring test results for the most recently completed tests from the vehicle's on-board computer.
  • On-Board Monitor Test: Retrieves and displays results for emission-related powertrain components and systems that are not continuously monitored.
  • Component Test: Allows initiation of a leak test for the vehicle's EVAP system.
  • Retrieve Vehicle Information (VIN, CIN, CVN): Displays the Vehicle Identification Number, Calibration ID, and Calibration Verification Number.
  • Modules Present: Identifies communication protocols and modules present in the vehicle.
  • Unit of Measure: Allows selection of measurement units (e.g., Metric or Imperial).

5.2 Clearing Fault Codes

To clear fault codes and turn off the Check Engine Light (MIL):

  1. Ensure the ignition is ON and the engine is OFF.
  2. Navigate to the 'Diagnostic Menu' and select 'Erase Codes'.
  3. Confirm your selection. The tool will clear the codes and reset the monitors.
  4. Verify that the Check Engine Light has turned off.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Device

To keep your KW310 in good condition:

  • Clean the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the screen and buttons are free from dust and debris.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the KW310 in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the integrated Velcro strap to keep the cable neatly bundled.

Device does not power on:
Ensure the OBDII connector is securely plugged into the vehicle's DLC. Verify the vehicle's ignition is in the ON position. Check the vehicle's battery for sufficient charge.
