Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when working with power tools and their attachments. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or damage to equipment.
- Read Brushcutter Manual: Always refer to your brushcutter's original instruction manual for specific safety guidelines, operation procedures, and maintenance requirements.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, long pants, and sturdy footwear.
- Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect the mounting set, scythe blade, and brushcutter for any damage, loose parts, or wear. Do not operate if any components are damaged.
- Secure Installation: Ensure all components of the mounting set and the scythe blade are securely fastened according to the installation instructions. A loose blade can be extremely dangerous.
- Work Area: Clear the work area of bystanders, pets, and any debris that could be thrown by the blade. Maintain a safe distance from others.
- Blade Handling: Scythe blades are sharp. Handle them with extreme care and always wear heavy-duty gloves.
- Power Off: Always turn off the brushcutter engine and ensure the blade has stopped completely before performing any adjustments, maintenance, or clearing debris.

Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to correctly install the scythe attachment mounting set onto your brushcutter. Ensure the brushcutter engine is OFF and the spark plug cap is disconnected before beginning installation.
- Prepare Brushcutter: Ensure your brushcutter is turned off, cooled down, and the spark plug cap is removed to prevent accidental starting. Remove any existing cutting attachment or mounting hardware.
- Install Blade Support Plate: Slide the splined blade support plate (lower drive plate) onto the brushcutter's drive shaft. Ensure it seats correctly and aligns with the shaft's splines.
- Position Scythe Blade: Place your scythe blade onto the blade support plate, ensuring it is centered and correctly oriented for cutting.
- Install Protective Cover: Place the chrome protective cover (upper guard) over the scythe blade, aligning its central hole with the drive shaft.
- Secure with Threaded Nut: Thread the provided M10 x 1.25 left-hand threaded nut onto the drive shaft. Tighten it firmly using an appropriate wrench. Remember, it's a left-hand thread, so turn counter-clockwise to tighten.

Figure 2: Close-up of the threaded lock nut. - Fasten Protective Cover: Use the provided screws to secure the protective cover to the brushcutter's shaft housing or guard bracket, if applicable. Ensure it is stable and does not wobble.
- Final Check: Double-check all connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Gently rotate the blade by hand to confirm it moves freely without obstruction.
Operating Instructions
Once the scythe attachment is securely mounted, operate your brushcutter according to its manufacturer's instructions. Pay close attention to the following:
- Engine Start: Follow your brushcutter's specific starting procedure.
- Cutting Technique: Use a sweeping motion, keeping the blade parallel to the ground. Avoid striking hard objects like rocks or metal, as this can damage the blade and mounting hardware, or cause kickback.
- Maintain Control: Always maintain a firm grip on the brushcutter handles and be aware of your surroundings.
- Stop Operation: If the blade encounters an obstruction or if you need to clear debris, immediately release the throttle and turn off the engine. Wait for the blade to stop completely before approaching.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your mounting set.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the mounting set components and the scythe blade to remove grass, dirt, and sap. This prevents corrosion and buildup.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the blade support plate, protective cover, screws, and nut for signs of wear, cracks, bending, or corrosion. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
- Tightness Check: Regularly check the tightness of the threaded nut and all screws. Vibrations during operation can cause them to loosen over time.
- Storage: Store the mounting set and blade in a clean, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight, when not in use.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the scythe attachment mounting set.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Blade wobbles or vibrates excessively | Loose threaded nut; improperly seated blade or support plate; bent blade. | Turn off brushcutter, disconnect spark plug. Check and tighten the threaded nut. Re-seat the blade and support plate. Inspect blade for damage and replace if bent or cracked. |
| Attachment feels loose | Screws securing protective cover are loose; main threaded nut is loose. | Turn off brushcutter, disconnect spark plug. Tighten all screws and the main threaded nut. |
| Difficulty installing the threaded nut | Incorrect thread direction; cross-threading. | Ensure you are turning the nut counter-clockwise (left-hand thread) to tighten. Do not force it; if resistance is met, remove and re-align carefully. |
