Consider the following points before selecting where to install the inverter:
- Do not mount the inverter on flammable construction materials.
- Mount on a solid surface, preferably concrete or other non-combustible material.
- Install this inverter at eye level to allow the LCD display to be read at all times.
- For proper air circulation to dissipate heat, allow a clearance of approximately 20 cm to the sides and 50 cm above and below the unit.
- The ambient temperature should be between 0°C and 55°C to ensure optimal operation.
- The recommended installation position is to be adhered to the wall vertically.
- Be sure to keep other objects and surfaces clear as shown in the diagram to guarantee sufficient heat dissipation and to have enough space for removing wires.

7. Troubleshooting (FAQ)
This section addresses common questions and issues you might encounter.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is an off-grid inverter? | Off-grid inverter working mode: connects solar panels to supply power to the load; but cannot use the grid or battery to supply power to the load; when the energy is insufficient, it will automatically switch to the grid. |
| What is a Hybrid inverter? | Hybrid inverter working mode: Hybrid inverters are also called switched inverters. It not only stores energy in the battery to the grid company; PV panel + battery + grid. |
| What batteries can the inverter support? | Lithium battery, lead-acid battery, gel battery. |
| Lithium battery type? | LIFEPO4 and PYLON battery types are all lithium batteries. |
| What is the inverter battery voltage requirement? | 1KW inverter is equipped with 12V battery; 2KW-3KW inverter is equipped with 24V battery, which can connect batteries in series or parallel. |
| What types of solar panels can the inverter support? | Polycrystalline solar panel, monocrystalline solar panel. |
| Which inverter supports BMS battery communication function? | At present, only SMV 5KW and SMV III 3KW/5KW machines have BMS communication. SM 5KW and SM II 5KW models need external MODBUS BOX. |
| How many solar panels can be connected to the inverter? | Each inverter must first confirm the solar panel MPPT working voltage (parameter table on the product page). The input voltage of the solar panel that can be connected cannot exceed the maximum value. |
| Can the inverter work without a battery? | Off-grid inverter: SML II 3.5KW; SML II 5.5KW; SM II 5KW; SMV II 3.2KW; SML II 5KW; SMS III 3K; SMS III 5KW. Hybrid inverter: all models can work without battery. |
| Can inverters work in parallel? | If you need inverters that can work in parallel, please contact customer support. |
| Can the inverter be connected to the wind turbine? | Yes, but you can only connect the output of the wind turbine to the inverter. |
| Can the inverter be connected to the generator? | Can be connected to gasoline generators, diesel generators. The generator power cannot be less than 2 times the inverter. |
| How to connect solar panels? | According to the VMP voltage specification of the solar panel, the open circuit voltage does not exceed the maximum voltage. Solar panels can be connected in series above 200V. |
| What are the factors of solar panel output power? | 1. The output power of solar panels is mainly related to light intensity. If the light intensity is different, it will decrease in the morning and evening, and will be affected by clouds. 2. The shadow effect. When the solar panel is under light and is shaded or partially blocked, it will affect the output power. 3. Hot spot effect, mainly due to damage to the battery panel. |
| What is the no-load loss of the inverter? | The no-load loss of the inverter is about 1A. For example, 24V 1A. No-load loss is mainly reflected in: display screen, auxiliary power supply. |
| Can the generator start and stop automatically? | The inverter has the function of automatically starting and stopping. |
8. Maintenance
- Regularly inspect all connections for tightness and corrosion. Ensure all wiring is intact and free from damage.
