6. Setup

6.1. Physical Installation

The JOOAN T2R camera is designed for easy installation into a standard E27 light bulb socket. Ensure the power to the socket is off before installation.

  1. Choose a Location: Select an indoor location with an E27 bulb socket, ideally at a height of 1.2-1.4 meters for optimal coverage.
  2. Power Off: Turn off the power switch to the light socket where you intend to install the camera.
  3. Screw In Camera: Carefully screw the camera into the E27 bulb socket until it is snug. Do not overtighten.
  4. Power On: Restore power to the light socket. The camera will power on and begin its startup sequence.

6.2. App Installation & Account Setup

To control and view your camera, you need to install the 'cam720' app on your mobile device.

  1. Download App: Scan the QR code provided in the Quick User Guide (or search for 'cam720' in your device's app store) to download and install the application.
  2. Sign Up/Login: Open the cam720 app. If you are a new user, create an account by following the on-screen instructions. Existing users can log in with their credentials.

6.3. Network Connection

The camera supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

  1. Add Device: In the cam720 app, tap 'Add a device' or the '+' icon.
  2. Select Connection Method: The app may offer options like Bluetooth (BT) configuration, WiFi connection, or Network cable connection. For this model, primarily use WiFi connection.
  3. WiFi Configuration: Follow the app's prompts to connect the camera to your home Wi-Fi network. You will typically need to enter your Wi-Fi password. Keep the camera and your Wi-Fi router within a distance of two meters during initial setup for optimal signal strength.
  4. Device Discovery: The app will search for and discover your camera. Once found, you can name your camera and complete the setup.

7. Operation

7.1. Live View & Control

Once connected, open the cam720 app to access the live feed from your camera.

  • 360° View Coverage: The camera offers 355° pan and 90° tilt capabilities. Use the controls within the app to remotely adjust the camera's viewing angle to cover a wider surveillance area.
  • Digital Zoom: Utilize the 4X digital zoom feature in the app to get a closer look at specific areas within the camera's view.

7.2. Two-Way Audio

The camera features a built-in microphone and speaker, enabling two-way audio communication.

  • Speak: Tap the microphone icon in the app to speak through the camera's speaker.
  • Listen: The camera's microphone will pick up audio from its surroundings, allowing you to listen through the app.

7.3. Motion Detection & Alerts

The camera is equipped with advanced AI functions for motion and humanoid detection.

  • Smart Humanoid Detection: The camera can distinguish human shapes, reducing false alarms caused by pets or other moving objects.
  • Real-time Alerts: When motion or a humanoid is detected, the camera can trigger an alarm siren and send real-time notifications to your mobile app.
  • Alarm Siren: Activate the alarm siren feature via the app to deter intruders.

7.4. Night Vision

The camera provides both infrared (IR) and color night vision modes.

  • IR Night Vision: Automatically switches to black and white mode in low light conditions, providing clear surveillance up to 15 meters.
  • Color Night Vision: Utilizes the built-in white LEDs to provide full-color video even in very low light, offering more detail.

7.5. Recording & Storage

The camera supports both local TF card storage and cloud storage.

  • TF Card Storage: Insert a TF card (minimum 32GB, maximum 256GB) into the designated slot for local storage. The camera supports automatic loop recording, overwriting the oldest footage when the card is full.
  • Cloud Storage: The camera supports encryption cloud storage for lifetime. Refer to the cam720 app for details on cloud storage plans and activation.

7.6. Multi-user Remote Access

Share access to your camera with family members or trusted individuals.

  • Sharing: Within the cam720 app, navigate to the camera settings and find the sharing option. You can invite other users to view the live feed and recordings.

8. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check the cam720 app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Power Cycle: If the camera becomes unresponsive, try turning off the power to the E27 socket for a few seconds, then turning it back on.
  • Reset: If issues persist, locate the reset button (refer to Product Overview) and press and hold it for several seconds until the camera indicates a reset (e.g., a voice prompt or LED change). This will restore factory settings, and you will need to reconfigure the camera.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Camera not powering on: Ensure the E27 socket has power and the camera is screwed in correctly. Test the socket with a regular light bulb.
  • Cannot connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    • Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct.
    • Keep the camera close to the router during initial setup.
    • If using a Wi-Fi extender, try connecting directly to the main router.
    • Reset the camera and try the setup process again.
  • Frequent disconnections:
    • Check your Wi-Fi signal strength in the camera's location using your phone.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions or sources of interference (e.g., microwaves, thick walls) between the camera and the router.
    • Consider relocating the camera or using a Wi-Fi extender.
  • No audio or poor audio quality:
    • Ensure the microphone and speaker settings are enabled in the app.
    • Check for any physical obstructions around the mic or speaker.
    • Adjust volume settings on your mobile device.
  • Night vision not working:
    • Ensure the camera's environment is dark enough for night vision to activate automatically.
    • Check night vision settings in the app (auto/IR/color).
  • SD card not recording:
    • Ensure the SD card is inserted correctly and is not full.
    • Format the SD card through the app.
    • Use a high-speed TF card (Class 10 or higher recommended).
    • Check recording settings in the app.
  • App notifications not received:
    • Ensure app notifications are enabled in your phone's settings for the cam720 app.
    • Check the camera's motion detection and alert settings in the app.
    • Verify your phone has an active internet connection.

10. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: For best motion detection and coverage, install the camera at a height of 1.2-1.4 meters.
  • Wi-Fi Stability: A stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection is crucial for consistent performance. If experiencing issues, try to minimize distance to the router or reduce interference.
  • Power Source: The camera is designed to be powered by a standard E27 light socket (100-220V). Ensure the socket provides continuous power for uninterrupted surveillance.
  • SD Card Choice: Always use a high-speed TF card (Class 10 or U1/U3) to prevent recording issues and ensure smooth playback.
