3. Product Overview

The LAUNCH X431 PRO3S+ Elite system consists of a display tablet and a SmartLink C V2.0 communication module. The tablet serves as the user interface, while the SmartLink C V2.0 acts as the vehicle communication interface (VCI).

3.1 Display Tablet

The tablet features a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen, running on Android 10.0 with a 2.0GHz 4-core processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB ROM (expandable). It includes an 8MP rear camera and supports 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band WiFi for fast operation and updates.

3.2 SmartLink C V2.0

The SmartLink C V2.0 is a powerful VCI that supports advanced protocols like CANFD, DoIP, and J2534. It enables faster data transmission and advanced OEM J2534 reprogramming for compatible vehicles. It also functions as a wireless VCI, allowing data transmission to the tablet without a physical connection.

4. Setup Guide

4.1 Initial Tablet Setup

  1. Charge the Tablet: Connect the charger to the tablet and a power outlet. Ensure the tablet is fully charged before first use.
  2. Power On: Press and hold the power button on the tablet until the LAUNCH logo appears.
  3. Language Selection: Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language.
  4. Wi-Fi Connection: Connect the tablet to a stable Wi-Fi network. This is crucial for software updates and online functions.
  5. Registration/Login: Register a new LAUNCH account or log in with an existing one.
  6. Software Download: After selecting your language, re-download the model software in the corresponding language for optimal functionality.

4.2 Connecting the SmartLink C V2.0

  1. Power On SmartLink C: Ensure the SmartLink C V2.0 module is powered on.
  2. Connect to Tablet: The SmartLink C V2.0 can connect to the tablet wirelessly via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the tablet and pair with the SmartLink C.
  3. Connect to Vehicle:
    • For OBDII Vehicles (16-pin): Connect the OBDII Diagnostic Cable to the SmartLink C V2.0 and then to the vehicle's OBDII port (usually located under the dashboard).
    • For Non-OBDII Vehicles (Older Models): Select the appropriate non-16 pin adapter from the adaptor box. Connect the adapter to the vehicle's diagnostic port, then connect the OBDII Diagnostic Cable to the adapter and the SmartLink C V2.0.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 System Diagnostics

The X431 PRO3S+ Elite performs OE-level full system diagnostics for over 200 brands and 20,000+ models.

  • Auto VIN & Scan: Automatically identifies vehicle information and performs a full system scan.
  • Read & Clear Codes: Retrieves and clears Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from all accessible ECUs.
  • View Live Data Stream: Displays real-time data parameters in various formats (graph, value, combine) for up to 12 data streams simultaneously.
  • Read Freeze Frame: Captures a snapshot of sensor values when a DTC is set.
  • Read ECU Information: Displays vehicle control unit information.

5.2 Special Functions

  • J2534 Programming: Allows for OEM programming and ECU replacement/refresh for compatible vehicles (e.g., BMW, Benz, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover). This function enables updating ECU software, repairing missing ECU information, and programming blank ECUs.
  • ECU Coding: Customize vehicle settings, activate hidden features, or disable annoying functions (e.g., auto start-stop, chimes). Reprograms adaptive data after repairs.
  • Bi-Directional Control (Active Test): Send commands to vehicle systems/components to test their operational status (e.g., turn on radiator fan, modulate throttle, open/close windows).
  • Guided Functions (VW/Audi): Provides step-by-step instructions for complex diagnostic and service procedures for Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.
  • AutoAuth for FCA SGW: Access 2018+ FCA vehicles (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo) equipped with a Security Gateway module for diagnostics and calibrations. (Note: Requires an FCA account, purchased separately).
  • Renault SGW Access: Unlock security gateway for 2019+ Renault vehicles to perform service functions, active tests, coding, and programming.
  • Topology Mapping: Visually displays the communication structure between vehicle modules, using color-coding to quickly identify and locate faults.
