5. Setup Instructions

5.1. Hardware Connection

  1. Connect the CPE's 1000Mbps WAN port to the POE adapter's POE port.
  2. Connect the POE adapter's LAN port to your PC or network switch using an Ethernet cable.
  3. For the Master CPE, ensure the connected router has internet service.
  4. For the Slave CPE, ensure the connected PC is configured to obtain an IP address automatically.
  5. Important: Do NOT use a 100Mbps port to connect POE, as this may damage the device.

5.2. Web Interface Configuration (Point-to-Point Matching)

The KuWFi CPE features an LED digital display for easy point-to-point matching without requiring a computer for initial setup. However, for detailed configuration, the web interface is used.

Figure 4: Web interface configuration steps.
  1. Connect to the Device: Ensure your PC is connected to the CPE via Ethernet. Set your PC's IP address to be in the same subnet as the CPE (e.g., 192.168.254.x, where x is not 254).
  2. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and navigate to the default IP address: 192.168.254.254.
  3. Login: Enter the default password: admin.
  4. Enter Background Operation Interface: After successful login, you will access the device's management interface.
  5. Modify WiFi and Password: Navigate to the wireless settings section to configure your desired WiFi network name (SSID), security type, and password.
  6. Obtain IP Address: After applying the settings, ensure the device is configured to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) or assign a static IP as needed for your network to access the internet.

6. Operating Modes

The KuWFi 1N630 supports various operating modes to suit different network requirements:

  • Universal Relay Mode: Extends an existing wireless network.
  • AP Mode (Access Point): Creates a new wireless network from a wired connection.
  • Bridge Mode (Point-to-Point/Point-to-Multi-Point): Connects two or more distant networks wirelessly. This is the primary use case for the CPE pair.

The device supports intelligent channel analysis and automatic optimal channel selection, ensuring efficient wireless transmission with a maximum rate of 900Mbps.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Environmental Considerations

The KuWFi CPE is specially designed for outdoor applications and can withstand harsh outdoor environments:

  • IP65 Level Protection: Waterproof, dustproof, and lightning protection.
  • Temperature Range: Operates reliably from -40°C to 70°C.
  • Weather Adaptability: Adapts to wind, sun, thunder, rain, snow, and frost.

7.2. Power Saving Features

The device supports IEEE802.3az, allowing it to enter a low power consumption mode when there is no addressable frame. It instantly returns to active mode when new frames arrive. This feature automatically adjusts energy consumption based on port flow, saving up to 30% power cost.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Connection/Poor Signal:
    • Ensure proper alignment between Master and Slave CPE units. Use the signal strength LEDs (SIG1-4) to assist with alignment.
    • Check for physical obstructions like trees, walls, or buildings between the CPEs. WiFi signals are significantly affected by such barriers.
    • Verify that the Master CPE is connected to a working internet source.
    • Confirm that the correct operating mode (e.g., Bridge, AP) is selected for each unit.
  • Cannot Access Web Interface:
    • Ensure your PC's IP address is in the same subnet as the CPE (e.g., 192.168.254.x).
    • Double-check the IP address (192.168.254.254) and login credentials (admin).
    • Try resetting the device to factory defaults by pressing and holding the Reset button for 5-10 seconds.
  • Device Damage after POE Connection:
    • Ensure you are connecting the POE adapter to the 1000Mbps WAN port only. Connecting POE to a 100Mbps port can damage the device.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Performance: For best results and to achieve the advertised long-distance and strong signal, it is highly recommended to purchase and use two CPE units for a dedicated point-to-point bridge.
  • Obstacle Awareness: Be mindful that WiFi signals are significantly impacted by physical barriers such as trees, walls, buildings, and even large vehicles. Plan your installation to minimize such obstructions for optimal performance.
  • Language Settings: The device's web interface typically supports multiple languages. If the menus are not in your preferred language, check the system settings within the web interface for language options.

10. Warranty and Support

KuWFi provides the following warranty and support services:

  • Router Warranty: A 1-year warranty period is provided for routers. If quality problems occur within this period, the store supports free return and replacement of new products.
  • Other Products Warranty: For products other than routers, a three-month warranty period is provided. If quality problems occur within this period, the store supports free return and replacement of new products.
